My biggest slump for me is putting off my studying. I'll tell myself I'll get to it later and then by the end of the day I end up not studying as much as I wanted to or nothing at all. Mostly happens on my days off from work , since on my work days I tend to be really productive on my and study during all my breaks. If I spent as much time as I did studying as I do watching language learning videos I'd be fluent in Chinese by now!

I fell into a slump a week ago, and for me I actually found someone else learning Japanese and she knew more than me as she had been learning for a year compared to me, who had been learning for 2 months. I've studied French and Japanese for exactly the same time (about 5 years). However, now I'm quite fluent in French (B2/C1 level) but I can only say and understand very basic Japanese... I faced soo many slumps with the language. Now, after a 2-year-break I restarted it with Duolingo + videos and songs... Little by little I feel the progress again, but with a language like Japanese (my mother tongue is Spanish) it is soo easy to feel that you are not going anywhere (specially if you still cannot read nor understand the language :'( ). 点滴 は 石 を 点て穿つ/ Practice makes perfect Thanks for the video!

There’s also an app called kawaiinihongo which is really good for taking you through grammar and Vocab slow enough so you understand but fast enough where you’re not bored! You can also learn the kana on there if you wanted to

I fell into a slump a couple of months ago because I was pushing a lot of Korean grammar and words into my brain. This is something I've always done for the past 3 and a half years and it works for me, except this time it was pressuring and felt burdensome. After stepping back and taking a week break, I feel a lot better and relaxed now. 😊 And I'm taking the time to see how far I've really come (being able to understand 75%+ of the webtoon comics I read, improving in my listening skills, being able to read faster, etc...). Acknowledging and cheering on your growth is really important, never forget that. 👍

The bucket of water analogy is really good! I have found it helpful to give myself permission to not make progress all the time. If I try to keep adding more and more new information all the time it gets too hard to remember everything. When I hit a slump I think of it as my brain's way of telling me to slow down and let the information I have already learnt sink into my long-term memory before I try adding more.

I noticed multiple incorrect usages of the adjective "good", when the adverb "well" should have been used toward the end of the video. This incorrect usage is also extremely common in English speaking countries (along with the common incorrect use of double negatives, but i won't get into that). Basically when a passive verb is used (is, am, are, was, were), that is the time when the adjective "good" should be used. That is someone is good or was good at something. The exception is when health is involved; that is someone can also be both well or good, because the word well is also related to health. Example: How are you? I am good OR I am well. When an active or action verb is used, well should be used. That is someone does well, or speaks well, writes well, listens well. Example: he is very good at English and speaks it very well. Or he is good enough at English to do well on tests. The exception is when morals or values are used. Then you can actively do "good" because the word good is also related to morals or virtue. In the moral sense, good becomes a noun and an object of action; he does good for his community. But when values or judgement, or specifically physical senses (and emotions) are used, good is still an adjective. He sounds good (singing a song, giving a speech, or playing an instrument), she looks good (appearance or dress), this tastes good, this smells good, it feels good. An exception can be made with feeling, because someone can feel either good or well, since well-being is again health related and people can feel healthy. Or if you feel sick, both can be used because you don't feel good (sense) and you don't feel well (health). Now you can still taste well or look well (non health related) or smell well, but that would describe your ability to actively taste or see or smell, not the quality of what you are looking at or tasting or smelling. So good describes the quality of something, while well describes the ability of something.

Start learning Hiragana & Katakana! Japanese might seem too difficult at first because it's an Asian language which is different from Spanish/ English.. but pronunciation/ speaking&listening won't be too hard! Wish you the best!!

😆 Me encanta tu canal!

Currently learning Japanese - on my own. Anything is possible these days thanks to the Internet. By the way, I was wondering which languages you've learned as an adult, without the help of school?
