The best procrastination is watching a video on how to avoid procrastination. It's such a good excuse too ;-)

Yeah, you learn the most from doing and trying stuff out. You get more experienced and a better understanding of what works and doesn't work. And you can iterate.

Some people dream about their future achievements, they are ambitious and it feels good. I have nothing against that, I do it myself. But they talk too much about it and 6 months later they are still doing so and they never really started. Sometimes our brain rewards us when we lie to ourselves when we see our self already done with the job. And because it's rewarding we keep doing it. I remember one friend of mine who said she wanted to work at google in cybersecurity. She didn't know how to code but seemed passionate about it, had ambitions and plenty of time before her. I liked her mindset. 3 months later I ask her what she had done and if she had started programming or learned more about cybersecurity. She answered me that no, she had never made the first step. But it was still her goal and she was passionate about it. She had plenty of time to do so during her 3 months. I mean, if you really want to do something and feel good about yourself (in my opinion), the best way to do so is by getting started. Learning how to achieve your dream, that's the quest. For me, in programming at least, the first step is always to google my questions. Googling really is a skill and it seems that a lot of people don't do that, they think that someone or the system they are part of (for example their college) will teach them what they want one day. Sometimes they are lucky and sometimes not. Being passive and waiting for others to do your job for me is not really being mature and having a good work ethic. It's a really bad habit because one day you won't have those people or this environment and you'll feel lost. Searching on the internet how to do something, realizing how rewarding it is to do so because you can see that you developed some skills or gained new knowledge that in return broadened your view on the world and/or subject... it's really important. Each step you feel more structured, more armed to achieve your goal. With each step, you transform a little bit of your dream into reality. As I said before, all of this is my point of view and I can be wrong. But I do really feel that step 0 for many and myself are realizing how they lie to themselves. Sometimes it can be hard... I recently realized this about one big dream I have. Sometimes it's really hard to wake-up but we have to do it. Dreams were given to us, if we don't do anything they will die. Now, whether or not a dream has to stay as is, is another question. Thanks for the video btw, I always feel more armed to achieve my dreams when I watch you. Your videos really do broaden my horizon about the back-end. I have fallen in love with it. I'm currently watching your beginner level playlist about the back-end, taking notes, and doing some researches haha Really exciting stuff

When I find myself procrastinating I create a new thing to procrastinate about. For example, I have found myself watching my fifth episode of an anime when I know that I should be writing a report. So I give myself another task that I don't want to do. That might be to do some house cleaning or edit a video, and I tell myself that I don't need to do that thing, if I write a part of my report. This works because we often get fixated on a task and have an emotional aversion to, so creating another experience to avoid is a workable coping strategy. If you find yourself suffering from procrastination a lot then you might be suffering with some kind of mild experiential aversion you should address.

Don't wanna be that person, but would be it possible to limit/compress the sound a little bit? Weak headphones/speakers would really benefit from it. Especially if you ended up with such. Discussing the topic, I can't emphasize enough how important is to maintain the balance between researching and doing the actual thing, because in on the one side you may find yourself stuck for months not knowing that the good or better option exists, that is, when lacking fundamentals or a comprehensive overview, on the other side, the thing not shipped yesterday can't be shipped tomorrow - tomorrow will be the thing of tomorrow. Cheers!
