How to Overcome Stuttering
- You have to believe in yourself and realize it's all in your head
- Talk to a stranger everyday (Go outside!)
- Join speech clubs and competitions
- Speak up in class
- Put yourself on the spot in social interactions
- Sing when speaking
- Speak from your Diaphragm
- Find a great speech therapist
- Get good sleep and rest
- Positive Affirmations
- The only way to truly get better, is by going out and practicing in the field (EXPERIENCE IS GOLDEN)
- Don't allow stuttering to hold you back from the things you want to do in life.

My stutter has improved immensely since i was a kid. It still happens but it's a minor issue. A couple weeks ago I just told myself that I don't stutter any longer. I told my self with conviction. I believe it. It helps a lot to think that way. It's now to a point where when i feel it about to happen, i just let the block pass by. It's like having a measure of control

It’s the power of having control over the thoughts you tell yourself. Manifest good thoughts and reinforce them everyday

It’s crazy cause I honestly feel like most of stuttering is mostly in our heads. It’s the way we think that causes us to stutter even more.

One thing I’ve learned from my speech therapist is when talking you can tap you feet to control ur stutter

Omg i've doing it for long time i did not know this would come from comment like this..... And one thing i want to mention that it depends when u use this pace(tap leg to overcome stuttering) then Don't feel awkward cause it helps you to say the thing u want to say......

I also find that listening thoroughly will help to improve in speech .. listen so that you can naturally respond and not respond out of fear . When you respond out of fear that’s when stammers and speech deficiency’s start to happen . Comprehension and speaking goes hand in hand . That’s why people who have “social anxiety” typically stay away from social situations .. but when you stay away from social settings .. you set yourself back . And you’re not getting the practice to listen and respond . I feel like empaths have it hard when it comes to this . It’s not social anxiety its “energy” .. you’re around different vibrations that’s not familiar to yours . Which is why that happened .
@davidmoralesiv7145

I totally agree with the statement “when you stay away from social situations...you set yourself back”. When you detach yourself from social interactions you aren’t training mental muscles in your brain that help with communication. Plus human interaction/connection is so important and healthy for the soul.

I too stopped my stuttering thanks to Lee Lovetts’ How to Stop Stuttering and Love Speaking book and the World Stop Stuttering Association program. Those two things will help if you diligently immerse yourself in the authors methods every day. I hope this can help whoever is struggling with stuttering. All the best.

I agree .. if you know that you stutter than pretend that it happens and that you’re human . The people that usually pay attention to how you speak are probably the ones that had/have speech issues themselves. The ones that pick on you been in your shoes . So therefore keep at until you get better .... the root to all of this is CONFIDENCE .

I went through long periods in my life where I saw human interaction as the scariest things in my life because of stuttering. I still get very nervous before talking to strangers. I’d suggest expressing yourself creatively through art/music. Also push yourself to talk to more and more people, the repetition does help calm the nerves after a while

In high school I could speak well but not perfectly, whereas 2-3 years earlier It was very bad. Right now It's difficult for me to say words that start with "pr" or "tr". Great video! Just want to ask if it's possible to stutter more during lockdown due to lack of social interaction? I had a stutter during childhood which mostly grew out of, and is only apparent when I try pronouncing words that start with certain syllabus ("Alex" for instance always gets me). But with COVID and lockdown, I'm slowly seeing my speech regress such that my A's and E's are giving me a bit of trouble. Is this normal? And would getting out there and being sociable again + living a healthy lifestyle help the situation?

I’ve been in your shoes before. I know that it’s not a great feeling to feel when you’re afraid of every social interaction. All I can say is to constantly push yourself pass that fear and slowly step into more social interactions. Whenever I would feel that fear or anxiety creeping in I would tell myself that it was an indicator for me to actually speak. It would almost turn into a game for me which made it more of a challenge instead of a fear.

Hello so what are the steps or techniques to overcome it?
@davidmoralesiv7145
@davidmoralesiv7145 3 жыл бұрын
- You have to believe in yourself and realize it's all in your head - Talk to a stranger everyday (Go outside!) - Join speech clubs and competitions - Speak up in class - Put yourself on the spot in social interactions - Sing when speaking - Speak from your Diaphragm - Find a great speech therapist - Get good sleep and rest - Positive Affirmations - The only way to truly get better, is by going out and practicing in the field (EXPERIENCE IS GOLDEN) - Don't allow stuttering to hold you back from the things you want to do in life.

I joined a program to overcome it and the one thing they tell you is to change your identity as a stutter and think of yourself as a great speaker. Is that what you mean?

Try “singing” your sentences out. It sounds weird but it truly helps. We use a different part of our brain when we sing vs when we speak. It helps build that confidence. Sing to yourself and sing to others. I will also make a more in depth video soon!

Every person has stress points. When people feel stress certain muscles will tense up. In people who stutter it happens to be the vocal cords. As kids, we learn that we have it and it makes us nervous to speak so we get stressed out. By getting stressed out it makes it worse. It's a self feeding cycle that needs to be broken with calming the mind. I started smoking weed in high school and that totally chilled me out to the point where I wouldn't stutter when I was high. It's a mental thing that can be overcome

The reason is just in your head, there is no physical reason why you can’t say a word. It’s just a vicious circle of your brain being scared to talk because you stutter, and then stuttering because you’re scared.
