Dude, I just bought one for a 6.5' bed. Love it, never on the ground again.rain cover works like a charm. Going to build a riser ( drawer) for the mattress , mine didn't set between the fenders, doesn't really matter when your sleeping, but I can use the storage. Great video keep up the great work.

@haslinjas1075 Since the last post, I've changed the plan . I'm using a cargo net and air mattress, I can roll the net and mattress to the front of the bed and still use the tent as cover in case of rain. The tent is still awesome.

I stayed in a truck tent in Alaska for 2 months...great set up. The only downside was that if you camped multiple nights and wanted to use your truck you had to dismantle and set up again every day. Mine was big enough that I could put my mountain bike in it which helped this situation. But it was a very cool way to camp.

I would be worried about the straps touching the paint , If your vehicle is any kind of dirty it would leave micro scratches with the straps…how do your paint hold up

I truck camped before I'd ever heard of overlanding using my Avalanche & a truck tent. It was great because I also had access to the interior of the truck by folding down the midgate, etc. I found the setup to be clunky, but worked exceptionally well when all set up. Bonus was that I used the hard bed panels as my table tops!

I have the Rightline for a Ram 1500 and it does work really well. Only downside with any tent and this one is no different is if you do have to use your rainfly, it gets very hot inside due to NO air flow. Otherwise, it's a great setup.

I do have the Napier long bed tent for the tacoma it is nice he is correct its poles are to long this set up is better mattress I use I can't remember but it covers the wells and isn't as high as his which is better

The wife and I still have many fond memories of the truck bed tent and air mattress in Anza--the perfect gateway setup. Ha. I have this tent in a 6' Taco bed. I love it. I use a cot. So far wind and rain.... no issues. Being old and fat I need a step stool to get into the truck but other than that it gets the job done.

I own a RTT and let me say it’s great and all but it’s a lot of effort to remove and reinstall it so basically it’s sits up on my rack 24/7 regardless is your using it or not. That’s 100 lbs. of constant weight, every day. Forget going to a car wash and my cover is starting to fade/wear so I’ll be spending another $100.00 to replace the cover. You can’t drive the vehicle when the tent is deployed and it takes time to stow it away nicely. I have it installed on a roof rack of a lifted Hummer 3 so it’s very high and takes a lot of effort to set it up and take down with a lot of climbing around the vehicle. I just bought a 2020 Tundra Crewmax and just ordered a bed tent like this. Looking forward to the easy set up and take down!

If you can't where it might rain I was just getting the truck bed tent that has the liner built-in for the bed. You'll stay dryer and you don't have to clean out the bed of your truck

Cool video, shows it can be done on a budget, honestly though, get yourself a roof top tent you will not regret it. I am so glad I did, I'll never go back to camping on the ground or in the bed of my truck. Plus you can literally set them up and be camping in five minutes.

I have this tent , we camp in the high Sierra's we use a memory foam mattress which is an exact fit for the bed of the truck with the fender Wells cut out on mattress, good 3 season tent

Great video and I have truck bed camped all over the east last year. One downside for anyone considering buying is that you either throw all your other gears into the second row seat or carry them out and store in some kind of shelter. That's the only downside for me.

I know you posted a while ago but when you have it set up completely and zipped up the door did you have a bow in the zipper? If you did what did you do to make it flat? I set mine up exactly how the direction and how y’all did it and the door zipper was not completely flat. Had some trouble zipping it up and un zipping it because of the bow in it. Hopefully my concern made sense. Haha

I purchased this tent for my tacoma via the link you put in the description. Though it works. I just found out that the 110765 is not intended for the 3rd gen tacoma. I'm going to try and get in touch with rightline to get the correct one. The 110766 midsize "tall bed" is for the 3rd gen tacoma 😔

A single height air mattress would give you more headroom but the tent looks great except it's a shame that it doesn't have an awning over the entry.

Yes I agree I just chose this one only because of the it came with a pump built in and for the price it was I couldn’t pass on but I do agree for someone a bit big than myself I would just opt for a smaller height mattress, I agree :/ but there’s many awning options you can buy from other company’s if anything but would be nice if it came offered, thank you for watching my friend

Very nice and informative review! I actually bought one after seeing this video. A few weeks ago I bought a new 2019 TRD Off Road Tacoma. I will use this tent to camp out on our property, with my son and his friends( we own a horse farm on a river). It will be nice to be off the ground and it sets up easily (well my son did most of the work - He's an Eagle Scout so he could set up most tents in his sleep). Your reviews are very nice and informative (I subscribed).

I have the Napier. It has a full bottom instead of just the top. It has 4 tent poles. Its not droopy nor do you need the orange straps on the inside to tighten it down.. I prefer not sleeping directly on the bed too. After watching this I think the Napier is way better with less dirt inside and less of a chance of getting wet or the dirt in the bed turning to mud. Also that mattress is crap. Pittman outdoors has an actual truck bed mattress that is virtually punture proof.

Good job guys, I have the 6ft version and I also have a tri fold tonneau cover, the tent still fits with the tonneau folded up, it's a bit sloppy but it's good enough to keep the weather out. After you set it up a half dozen times it goes real quick.

That mattress is ridiculous! Get a inflatable bed that’s half as thick, resulting in more space and comfort. Also put a liner between your truck bed and your mattress, if not it will puncture on the smallest of thorns screw heads etc. That is a nice tent perfect for the truck bed.

Good stuff guys. Truck camping has gotten my attention and I have been looking at options. With my little Jeep TJ there is no room to do anything other than throw a tent on the ground old school style, but when I pick up a truck I would want an option other than a hard topper for some camping trips and that tent looks like a very cool way to go. I really dig the setup and considering the same thing, my only problem is being confined to camp once set up. Can you drive around (slowly of course, only in the Backcountry) with this thing setup?

Spend the money get a roof top tent and a bed rack, saves time unloading/loading/setting up plenty of room for storage it’s worth it

Consider buying a used truck cap. I bought a nice one for my Tacoma for $350 and now have a hard roof over my head.

You can get a insta bed that will pump up the air bed on 4 DD batteries. I have used one for 10 years now not a single problem.

@@JesseRizo I bought it over 10 years ago. I believe it was called the stow & go. The carrying bag was attached. It all worked together really well. Used it many times over the 10+ years. Actually I think more like 15 years because I got it before I became a OTR driver in 2008. I bought it at a sporting good store. I also had a great tent that went up & tore down in less then 5 minutes. That got stolen & was by northwestern territory & they stopped making them. Why do they always stop making the good products?

Sportz makes a better truck tent that has an enclosed bed liner so when it rains, the water in your truck bed cannot get to you. They also have a tent that extends past the tailgate so you have a place to stand up n change clothes.

I chose to go without a floored tent because i don't want all the dirt trapped in there when you take it down

I like the Napier truck tent over the Rightline but the Rightline has the better price point. Airbedz has a better air mattress too but, again, price point.

I always was interested in these tents but does the straps scratch your paint? If it gets windy or a storm the straps will scratch the paint.
