Best part of this video was the black cat 😂😂 Super helpful video! Im flying overseas for the first time, and on a budget airline that has a 7kg weight limit. Will be traveling for 3 weeks over the holidays so i will definitely be layering on the plane! Super helpful video. I also have an osprey so its nice to see i can fit all of that in there under 7kg.

We've been going for over 7 months with it now and are really happy. Remember to weigh your bag before you go to the airport as if it is overweight they will charge you extra. Also remember you can't take anything sharp so leave the scissors out too and all liquids must be in small bottles under 100ml. Hope you have a wonderful trip! 😁

This is so true. Well done. 8kg is quite impressive. We're still going strong with the same 40L bags after 1.5 years but the weight has crept up after winter in Europe. I need to learn to ditch my winter clothes in summer!

It's a great way to travel. We're trying our hardest to stick to it but it's really hard to not accumulate the odd item as we are constantly on the road. You've got the right idea about not bothering with med stuff as it is all so easily available everywhere you go. Less is best! 👍😊

Wondering how often you wear things before having to do laundry (do you wash underwear every 4 days or wear more than once), are you usually finding a laundromat, washing machine in your accommodations or washing in sinks? Glad you liked the packing video. It was very nice of Pablo to help me with that one! 😁. We only wear socks and undies once. If we don't have a washing machine we tend to hand wash them every day during the morning shower. Doesn't take long then you can leave them drying in the room during the day. T-shirts you can get 2 or 3 days out of (depending on the climate). Trousers longer. Hand wash them in sinks and when we get access to a washing machine give everything a good going over. 👍. Nice video. I usually take my carry on only for short weekend trips. For long trips, I always take the check-in bag and most of the time I don't use nearly two-thirds of the things that I had brought along. I guess I've to learn more about minimalistic packing for long term travel.

Yes, minimalist packing is truly a fine art that I am still learning. We just got so sick of hauling 20 kg packs around for years and have finally gone minimalist. It is so much easier now to get around on public transport and we've already saved hundreds of dollars on extra luggage charges. It is well worth the trouble and is great to de-clutter your life!

Having said that, Mandy has since acquired a sack to carry her excess luggage, along with carrying her 40lt Osprey and a small day pack. Her packing vlog went into great detail for 20+ minutes on how she carried 13kg as carry-on in 3 jackets, and now she carries them around in the sack 😃

Your cat is very good at finding a comfortable place to sit. Ha, ha. Well done for packing just 7 kilos of luggage. These days my family travel with one piece of hand luggage each plus my son takes a medical bag for his personal care. Some places I go to I buy costume dolls for my collection. Then I often need to put them in a second bag. We bought quite a lot in South East Asia and our airline weighed all our luggage. Then it was obvious we had over the limit. They charged me money for that. Therefore I have a mind to take less luggage.

Very wise. It's always best to leave plenty of space so you can bring souvenirs home. You need to take so little to South East Asia because of the warm climate and it is really cheap to buy anything you need in the markets there. Travelling with hand luggage only is brilliant!!

@@FrugalTravellers We travelled to Colombia in 2011 and the airline lost some of our luggage. You see our first flight had a delay due to fog. Another airline felt sorry for us and gave us the last two seats in Economy Class. My daughter was less than two so she sat on my lap. Therefore it makes me happy to only take hand luggage. It also makes it easier for me to push my son's wheelchair. I love to buy souvenirs.

We've been very fortunate and haven't had many delays up til now... I'm always happy as long as we arrive safe and sound 😃 We used to enjoy picking up souvenirs but now that we're permanently on the move, it's impractical to buy things: a) because we have carry-on luggage, and b) because we don't have a home to keep our purchases 😂 I think that's why photos and these vlogs are so important to us as they're the memories we keep of a place, and they're free! 😀

I bought a solid shampoo and a conditioner bar from Lidl Portugal, and they worked well. I think, going forward, we'll just buy whatever we need on the other side as everywhere has almost everything... but China didn't seem to have antiperspirant or deodorant in any of the shops, yet no one smelled bad! If I don't wear deodorant, I definitely don't smell like roses, let's put it that way 😁😅 ~ Mandy

Ahhh... That's lovely. This is Pablo, he's quite a character! I try desperately to keep it to 7kg but it's creeped up to about 10 over the last few years. It's fluid depending on where we are travelling and the season we are in. You slowly learn what is essential and what isn't. We haven't flown for 2 years now so the need to keep it under 7 isn't such an issue. When we finally do again I'll be either culling down or wearing more onboard! 😆😆

Go down to your local secondhand clothes shop/charity shop and look for a jacket with at least 4 deep pockets 😁 That way you won't have any attachment to the jacket and can pass it on to someone else when you no longer need it. This one cost only US $2.50 and I intended to give it away but it has proven quite useful, so I'm going to hang on to it 😄
