Came here after seeing your new packing vid as I wanted to see how you managed to get it all into those bags. You're lucky you havent had any issues yet. I always have a checked bag so my carry on is only 3-4kg but have definitely been weighed multiple times over the year. The 1 and only time that I have travelled carry-on only I had visited home briefly and was taking snacks back to my colleagues overseas (so my bag was a bit over from excess snacks) and it got weighed and I had to donate majority of the snacks to the airport person because I didnt want to pay $100-200 to check in just to keep them. Talk about my seriously bad luck. The one time I was hoping to not have it weighed. One thing to be careful of is that some places weigh the bag and the personal item together so it wouldnt always be possible to just put extra stuff in the personal item. Just thought i'd put that disclaimer to that advice for anyone who may see this. I've had my handbag weighed with my small carry on dayback (12L) before. Not often but maybe two or three times.
@KeithandDev Жыл бұрын
We are so sorry to hear about your bad luck Emma, that sucks about the snacks! Our biggest tip is we try to check in online as often as we can so we do not even need to go to the check in desk which helps. Our bags also away fit in the over head bin and we always have them on our backs when going through the gates so never get flagged. Lastly we also did down size our bags a little bit. So we do have a bit less clothes than in this video. Our other big tip is if it does look like they are weighing all the bags we will leave our heavy stuff with one of us and go up seperately. (again we havent yet had to do this but we have it in our back pocket incase :) ) Thanks for sharing stories with us hopefully they can help others as well!

Very helpful video! Can you share links for the stuff sack you use for your Patagonia jacket, your towels (are they bath or beach size) and also for your shopping bags?
@KeithandDev2 жыл бұрын
Hi Judy! Our shopping bags are actually from ikea! They work great! My (Dev’s) towel is bath size and Keith’s is beach. The stuff sac Keith uses that turns into a neck pillow actually came from another jacket I believe we got at Costco. The stuff sac I use for my jacket is just a silk bag I actually got in India when I bought a pair of pants, but any small bag with a drawstring will do :). Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

This is amazing, thank you so much! Have you had any issues with carry on size? That bag is definitely pushing the limits for most airlines. Do you tend to use a certain airline over others that give you more space? ❤🙏

We are so happy you found the video helpful Sam :) To answer your question, we have not had any issues with our bags so far. Even at our bags fullest they always fit in the overhead bins. That being said after posting our packing videos and seeing many comments we realize our bags are big. In Europe for budget airlines we always fly Ryanair and have never had any issues with our bag size :) We also do always read the package rules of airlines in we are flying with someone new. Hopefully that helps, if you have any other questions let us know :)

I did the big massive 40l one bag and it became a pain. I prefer a lockable carry on hard side roller and a 24-26l edc bag. Carry on doubles as a lockable trunk when you go out for the day and protects everything.

We wanted to travel carry on only, but it just doesn’t seem realistic for Asia. The allowance is so much stricter 🙁 so we’re rather opting for one bigger checked bag and 2 personal item bags between the two of us. But for Europe your setup seems perfect 👌🏼

Hey Bob! Thanks for watching! Yeah it’s a really fantastic pack. Only downside I can think of is that the straps aren’t very padded since they can be tucked away (which is something we use everyday and it’s an awesome feature), meaning hiking with this bag is not comfortable unless it’s packed fairly lightly. We very much recommend this bag, it’s incredible. Cheers!

Just wondering how much does a pack weigh? I'm in Europe and it's always been a maximum of 10kg take on luggage for safety reasons.. I imagine something weighing more than 10kg falling on someone's head would be quite dangerous
@KeithandDev Жыл бұрын
I imagine 10kg falling on someone’s head wouldn’t be nice yeah but that doesn’t happen unless the compartments pop open in crazy turbulence or something which we’ve never experienced thank goodness. Our bags are soft anyhow so it would be better than a hard suit case haha, anyhow thanks for watching! ❤️
@tijay85072 жыл бұрын
To Keith... you really underfilled the cubes meaning they take up more space defeating the object of using them,the cheap one is far too large so if you swapped it out for another one the size of the black one that would make a huge difference, you could easily fit your undies into a cube half that size or use a ziplock bag and squeeze the air out .All the same tips and hacks apply to help everyone...
@KeithandDev2 жыл бұрын
The big one wasn’t entirely stuffed yeah but more would not have been better (zippers wouldn’t be able to handle it), the cubes were all I could find at the time but they 100% did help, and they fit the best in my bag, size wise. Thanks for the recommendations!
@nonya65222 жыл бұрын
Don't understand why people think it's a better idea to carry an overpacked heavy backpack on their back rather than a carry on suitcase that you can drag. So much easier on the back.
@KeithandDev2 жыл бұрын
To each their own though Non Ya, we definitely prefer having the ability to walk up and down stairs, through cobble stone roads in cities, in all weather conditions. Many times I must say we were thankful for not having to awkwardly carry luggage up stairs or through mud or rough roads. It’s harder on the back but it’s definitely more versatile and practical for what we do. Thanks for watching!

Definately not the best use of space! Rolling tighter and neater doesn't take any longer as it saves that zip and unzip business, it makes the cubes far less bulky meaning they create a less bulky and cumbersome bag overall.. Stack the slimmer cubes on their side creating a big gap for other items from the top layer ... Never leave shoes uncovered as you can pick up some vile diseases from bacteria on the ground as animals do their business and people spit ,are sick and people pee on pavements too ... use disposible shower caps to cover them as they create less bulk around the shoes... your little bags/pouches are underfilled and they are too bulky which wastes space and makes the overall bag bulky.. using clear flat bags is ideal for all those reasons.. That toiletry bag is not compliant and is very bulky too .. it needs to be a clear reasealable flat bag 20x20cm big and that will also take up less space ..That note book is huge and you could use a far smaller one ..you should tie that jacket around your waist just for check in and then use a ziplock bag and squeeze the air out when it needs to be put in the bag and that takes up a fraction of the space.
