That's all fine, but where is the goat milk hand cream? We only use the finest cosmetic products on our BDR trips.

Amazing to see how far you’ve come! Was watching some of your videos from 2017 and you described yourself as very new at motorcycling. Now you’re bringing stickers in case you run into people who follow you!

Nice video Ben! You're definitely getting a system down. I appreciate the open, honest and articulate review of your pack-out! 😎👍

Thank you Brad for going over all your gear and how you have changed your packing over the years, which is pretty cool, always great seeing your videos. Thanks very much. Looking forward to the next one.

Another great vid. We seem to have similar "needs" on our trips. It's cool to see you're a bit of a coffee freak as well. I use the Sea to Summit collapsible pour over filter holder. Same results and is a bit smaller. I planned on running the NorCal BDR this year but got postponed due to the same heat that deferred your trip. Will hit that next season for sure. Keep up the great content Ben.

Yeh Ben! Ditch the Jetboil stove. It’s too heavy. Instead use a titanium pot and get the MSR XGK stove. This stove burns unleaded gasoline. So, it’s a win/win because you always have extra gas anyway and you never have to buy isobutane or carry that heavy canister again. 👍
@EPA3Ай бұрын
Actually, if you look at the weights of that equipment the weight is the same. Your suggestion actually weighs more if you include the weight of the gasoline in the MSR fuel bottle.
@E_Clampus_VitusАй бұрын
You don’t include the weight of gasoline used to cook with because it ALSO goes in the fuel tank. And the canister ALSO doubles as a Jerry can for bike. So, no. You aren’t carrying any fuel for the stove. You are burning fuel the bike uses. And the canister is literally a Jerry can. It’s not stove fuel. On the other hand, you must pack special fuel for the Jetboil. That is weight that CANNOT be used for anything else. And the canister is EXTRA weight as it’s NOT a Jerry can. Hope this helps. Rational thinking something you can try on your own too.

You have the same luggage setup as me now. Love the NorCal series so far.
@DualSportDuffer2 ай бұрын
I’m going to have to rethink my luggage plans. I wouldn’t have thought you would need the 80l rig for that much gear, but apparently I’m wrong. I’ll definitely be looking for your gear comparison video when it comes out. And my equipment setup is about equal to your load out, but my tent and sleeping bag don’t pack quite as small. Excellent video as always!
@DorkintheRoad2 ай бұрын
For some reason I feel like the Mosko 80L holds about the same as my GL Coyote, which supposedly has only 39 liters. It's weird. I'm going to do a side by side comparison with the same gear soon.
@Euryheli2 ай бұрын
@@DorkintheRoad It kind of does. The side bags are only 25L each, the top bag is 22l and the Aux pox are something like 5l each. I also have the Reckless 80 and Coyote, and with the single huge bag on the Coyote I can cram more stuff in there and then strap other stuff on top.
@mfranquemont18842 ай бұрын
@@DorkintheRoadagreed; don’t forget to do a accurate weight comparison too (for us weight weenies), seems GL is much lighter than MM.

CHEWIE!!! It's strange seeing you ride with Mosko luggage, it speaks to you being able to be objective testing Mosko stuff with you also having your affiliation with Giant Loop. The beavertail on the Mosko stuff is really nice for packing in miscellaneous stuff. Thanks for showing us the load out for your BDR trip. I'll have to check the new coffee setup out, my French press setup isn't great and have been thinking of changing.
@DorkintheRoad2 ай бұрын
Well my relationship with GL has changed a bit this year, but I also wanted to branch out and test/evaluate other stuff as much as I can.

I am trying to decide between the GL or the Mosko rackless setup right now, I look forward to your review. Maybe another video that is your go-to gear overall as of now, if you weren't testing/videoing and heading out on a BDR what would be your setup?

Awesome series! Super useful to see some tips on packing for my WYBDR trip next year. In one of the NorCal BDR videos I noticed you using goggles with your Shoei Hornet X2. What goggles were those?? I've been having trouble finding goggles that fit nicely in the Hornet's smaller face opening. Thank you!
@DorkintheRoad2 ай бұрын
They're 100% goggles on a quick strap. Not sure which model.
@swimminj082 ай бұрын
@@DorkintheRoad Yea I've tried a couple of 100% goggles that didn't fit/seal nicely, so I was surprised when I saw the 100% logo on there. I'll have to see if I can find the ones you have to try on

Nice to see your setup post BDR. I run a 60L dry bag on the back and a set of rackless Tusk panniers on my Morini. Nothing like hauling camping gear into the mountains and using it.

I use the ResMed air mini and the Medistrom Pilot-24 battery. I have a Mosko Nomax tank bag and run a battery tender cord into the tank bag. I charge the battery with a cord plugged into a power port which is plugged to the battery tender. I charge the battery when riding during the day. Battery lasts two nights easily but I charge every day. I have used this setup on multiple two week camping trips. Hope that helps.

question about the omni-charging setup: do you have a dedicated SAE plug to your battery to charge your OMNI battery? I would assume an existing USB port / outlet would be too small of power to properly charge the omni. I'm looking for a way to keep my CPAP battery charged while on multi-day trips, tested a USB to cigarette adapter / to mobile battery solution, and was SUPER slow .. just curious how your setup is . thx

@ that’s my exact same setup. I have the cigarette lighter charger for the battery I plug directly into an Sae to female cigarette adapter, so in theory.. I should be good ! I also eke out 2 nights from that battery without recharging it. Thx
