Thanks for the tips. My dream for a number of years has been to move into a RV and be perpetually prepared to be part of the relief effort for domestic natural disasters. Now that I have purchased my future home, I am starting to build a more detailed plan for the future. Are there any groups / resources to tap into where I can learn from others who do this (In addition to the Red Cross as I use to be a DAT volunteer)?

Fema courses can be a good start. NIMS gives an overview of how some of the stuff works. If your Christian you can hook up with Samaritans Purse. Baptist disaster relief is who I work though. Theyre a great organization.

Leatherman, flashlights, helmet with lights, neoprene and gortex coveralls or pants and jacket.if a dog handler have shot records and be sure your team is in contact with customs if going overseas. Bring language books and a tent if you can't a small easily packed shelter. Inflatable puff seats. Small padlocks. Internationally, you'll want to be sure your patches are Velcro

Dont forget some "ready to eat" food... Even if it is just a case of Chef Boyardee, cuz FEMA food generally sucks, at least it did after Matthew.
