According to my experience I always carry one more small bag to put used clothes in a separate bag if I have not got it in laundry. Because used clothes can create smell in fresh clothes even if they are in poly bags.

Well the size depends on how many days you are trekking & for brand, it would be best to explore any Decathlon store. They have a variety and you will also get help in selecting. Also the cost is economical. I would recommend to purchase atleast a 40L rucksack. If you want to carry your own cooking gear & sleeping bag, min 60L rucksack will be reqd.

Good video. Did you missed a raincoat and backpack waterproof cover. From now on I will keep all my clothes in separate plastic bags because last time rain water got inside my backpack and all my unused dress got drenched even though I used a backpack raincover. It was the first day of my monsoon trek. I had to sleep at night in tent wearing only shorts in my sleeping bag, both was partially wet. So guys if you could get plastic bags for your each and every dress you don't have to worry about the rain or accidentally falling in some water stream.

How you manage if you have a DSLR Camera and other lenses and accessories?
@swathichatrapathy9347
@swathichatrapathy9347 8 жыл бұрын
+Malhar Chaniyara Hi Malhar! Firstly, you need to plan what kind of photography you want to do and carry equipment accordingly. Avoid zoom lenses unless you are extremely keen on wildlife photography. You ought to make your gear as light as possible. It is best to carry your camera and lens in a separate bag. A light and padded sling-style bag will make the camera easily accessible. Also choose a monopod over a tripod, or carry a very light tripod that you can put into your backpack. That's how I usually carry my camera.
@MalharChaniyara
@MalharChaniyara 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Swati for the tips. Another separate bag for camera to be manage with my Hiking backpack? Is it possible.? I'm in landscape and night sky photography for this trip, may be some Macro as well. I must carry my tripod since I want to capture some light-trails and time lapses.

@swathichatrapathy1058
@swathichatrapathy1058 6 жыл бұрын
You can lock the zips together. You do get locks for that. But most airports don't allow you to lock your luggage. After a security check, they lock it themselves with a tag. So there's really nothing to worry about.

Hi Swathi. I am going to a trek to sour tal lake for 10 days. I have one 35 L back pack. Is it too small, or I should buy a new big one..
@swathichatrapathy9347
@swathichatrapathy9347 7 жыл бұрын
A 35 litre backpack would be very small for a ten day trek. You'll definitely need something bigger. Go for a 50-55 litre backpack. If you're carrying your own tent, sleeping bags, cooking equipment, etc, then you'll need something bigger like a 65 - 70 L backpack.

@swathichatrapathy1058

The backpack in this video is 55L. I'd say that's the ideal size because it gives you the flexibility to use it on shorter (4-5 days) and longer treks (10 days). Wildcraft, AdventureWorx and Deuter make good backpacks. If you're trekking with Indiahikes, I'd recommend renting our backpack. We've made this with a lot of care to be the best backpack we have used. So you'll save some bucks and you'll have an excellent backpack! Hi, 75 litres is indeed an overkill. I would suggest you go for a Wildcraft Trailblazer 50 litre backpack. It is one the decent backpacks available in India. If you have someone coming from the USA, try and get the Teton Scout 3400. It is the best bag I've used till date. Find a review of it here - indiahikes.com/teton-scout-3400-backpack/

@tellsackett1561
@tellsackett1561 Ай бұрын
Bhai I hope you have figured it out, nevertheless, I'll say it. Most backpacks now have a torso adjustment system, I don't know about 6years back, I'm pretty new here. Also body height isn't much of a hindrance, try to keep the waist strap above th bones of your hip girdle, roughly around your navel. Then fiddle around with shoulder straps to adjust and distribute weight. Like if you are of a smaller built, keep weight on your hips fir some time by loosening the shoulder straps, then after some time shift it to the shoulders by tightening them shoulder straps. This way you'll now tire one single part of your body

@TrekkerSudhir
@TrekkerSudhir 4 жыл бұрын
Untill you get an expert advice from Swathi, checkout available backpacks at Indiahikes website. For more options, checkout Decathlon store. Now size depends on how long you will be trekking, no. of days & if you will carry your own camping & cooking gear. I would recommend a 40L backpack. If carrying your own camping gear, 60L backpack is a must. I purchased Forclaz 40L & Forclaz 60L.

Swathi, where to keep my electronic gadgets like Power bank, headphones, Memory cards, card readers, otg cable etc etc?

The best thing to do is keep them with your warm layers. All of these things tend to get cold and drain out quickly (especially the power bank and batteries). So wrap them up with your fleece / woollen socks and keep them in your backpack. If you have a lot of photography equipment to pack, this video will help you - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4arhIaemLiJmpY&t

Hii swathi, can u plz suggest a good backpack for one-two day trek!!?

Hi Sounak, for a 1-2 day trek, a small 30 L backpack will do. If you are trekking in the Himalayas over a weekend and need to take all your warm layers, then maybe a 40 L backpack. You'll find some detailed guidelines here - indiahikes.com/choose-right-backpack-trek/

Is it necessary to book a agent before going to trekking for first time?

Hi Ankit, it's better to trek with an organisation first, get the hang of it and then go independently. If not that, start trekking locally and camping independently. After that you could go on an easy Himalayan trek and complete it independently. If you want to start off with an organisation, you'll find all our treks here - indiahikes.com/upcoming-treks/

U r right...buy a 10l bag and use that while on trek. Ur rucksack will rest at camp

If you wish to offload your backpack, this option is available at an extra cost. Indiahikes & many other trek organiser provide this facility. But this option is not available on all Treks, you must check about this while booking for a trek and also confirm it directly from the organizers (email / call) before joining the trek. If you are offloading your backpack, carry a separate 15L-20L day pack to carry your essentials, as your backpack will be available to you once your reach the campsite.
