What a wonderful tutorial on another wildlife. I didn't know where you were going with the purple at the beginning and after seeing the finished painting, everything just made sense. I never would have thought of using purple for the cow's shadow, such a great lesson! I don't know what was funnier, Margot in the cow's suit or your expression on the glass of milk, lol.

Definitely fun. I like your comment of the white of the cow reflecting the green of the grass. So pretty-I see the basic shadows that I am learning to look for-knowing where the light is coming from, etc., but I would love to see a tutorial on finding shadows. They definitely make the picture but I need to train my eyes to see them more. We are spending a week on a bison farm in a month or two. Hope to get some sketches and paint. I appreciate your tutorials so much. Barbara

I am watching the cows again. It's a favorite. 1. Your choice of music is relaxing, 2. Margot is awesome (did she make that cow costume?) 3. You utilize such a buffet of techniques; magic scalpel, negative painting with that ugly green masking fluid, your trusty rigger, mixed media, vignette style, great color schemes, I love the purple mix; I could go on. I have photos of Longhorn cattle taken near our previous home in Texas. We recently moved from Texas to North Carolina and a painting of the Longhorn cattle seems more unique now since we are no longer surrounded by them. I would not have thought this but I find that I actually learn a lot about the mechanics of mixing color by watching you do it. So please know that the camera views of your pallet work are great, maybe because I've never had a classroom lesson in painting. You have a gift of teaching. Thank You! Michael

A big thank you to your Aussie friend for the photo. I grew up i Texas & the Hereford; with a Texas drawl we pronounced it, "HER FORD or perhaps HER FERD" with either pronunciation. The cattle in the pasture were a part of my life as well as watching the ropers practice on a Saturday night when the rodeos weren't scheduled. Again, thanks to you both.
