Don't worry too much it's just a tabletop piece: proceeds to casually paint a miniature to a standard I could never hope to achieve trying my absolute hardest haha. Amazing work!

@@TierDrama Dude, seriously? This model is like a fricking painting. I saw it over at Reddit it I didn't believe it was a mini at first. Every stroke is as precise as it can be. All of these gradients and effects make it look so perfect.

@@FlameJackstar I hope you are joking. of course it looks good...its fucking freaking richard gray. but have a look around at his more serious stuff and other painters...jesus christ. www.puttyandpaint.com/projects/20593 instagram.com/p/CBWaseah-eh/

I just did my intro set of Intercessors using a lot of advice in this video. I'm really happy with my with how they turned out. Especially for my first 40K models, and not doing any modeling in probably 36 years. Thanks for the help! Great video.

Impressive! Looks very grim dark, but at the same time not dirty, like many other "grimdark" miniatures. Thanks for sharing the tutorial!

This always pops up when I search for inspiration to paint my ultramarines, really nice. Besides everything else, I am still amazed about the control with calgar blue. I made some proper baby blue marines in the past :) I also just skip it these days and go straight to fenrisian grey.

I really like this style....it is full of texture, grim dark, but a controllable type of grim and dark and the final effect is very realistic, thank you

Amazing to see your process. I've been working with oil washes on miniatures for a few years and I can recommend using small make-up sponges with thinner to remove the washes. It doesnt leave unwanted fibres like the cotton buds do. Saves a lot of hassle, but they tend to be more absorbent. Awesome work and truly shows your masterful control and experience as an artist.

Absolutely phenomenal table top mini, captures that grimdark feel perfectly and still carries your signature look and feel to a T 👍 from someone who moved to studio scale modelling for years before coming back to minis, it’s really nice seeing all the techniques starting to blend 😎

I recently got into miniature painting. Being a chaos guy myself, i chose as my first miniature a Great Unclean One. Iv been having a blast painting it but its not anywhere near perfect like the works of Richard Grey but I now have something to truly work towards. If i knew what I know now going into this I would have painted some of these pieces before gluing stuff down but in a few years when i learn more I will absolutely be picking up another Great Unclean one to do a comparison between where i started and where i end up.

I absolutely love this. The only thing I have a minor dislike for is the initial stippling step adds the rough texture to the gold areas of the paint job and I don’t like the way it looks. But I think the textured look looks great on the blue parts of the armour. 🙌🏻👌🏻

Love this effect. I find it much more in keeping with my idea of how they should look rather than the edge highlighting bonanza you see on other models that end up producing a Tron warrior appearance!

FYI, Micro set is basically just white vinegar... for anyone who doesn't want to pay for that. just get some white vinegar from the kitchen or from the dollar store. works exactly the same.

Very interessing method overall. Also the gold choise is pretty interessing even if the covarage is not ideal, But I feel the light stipling part (18:49) could be used in place of the airbrush step, IMO prepping an airbrush and cleaning it after just for 3 quick passes is to laborious. The gradient as you said is better on airbrush but you can always glaze the hightlights.
