Continuing my way through the Pelennor Fields Boxset, I've tackled the Morannon Orcs now. This is a basic guide to get those orcs done quickly and straight to the table.

Army painter leather brown undercoat (calthan brown in GW) Drybrush boltgun metal, lead Belcher Red gore on clothes, or mechrite red or mephiston red Knarloc green or Loren forest for skin (but I use numerous colours for skin) Devlan mud wash Bestial brown for leather straps (mournfang brown) Scorched brown for the shields (rhinox hide) Blood red highlight for clothing (evil suns scarlet) White eyes and teeth and black.

Battle Games in Middle Earth what citadel paints would you advise for the different flesh colours? I want to make sure I get a good mix since Middle Earth Orcs have very diverse skin tones

thanks for this mate i am about to get the mordor half of the Pelennor fields box and attempt to paint it up. very new to painting but i plan on making it my first fully painted force so this will definitely help me get it smashed out a bit quicker.

Haha, I still get half my eyes wonky!! Most of them have 4 layers of paint in before they’re right!

Ive painted 48 Morannons following your tutorial , the only thing i did differently was to paint the trousers in random muted colours . Keep up the good work 👍

Thanks! I usually use just normal GW brushes. A lot of fine detail ones though, I rarely paint in anything bigger than a standard GW brush. But i've painted with many brushes in my time and honestly haven't noticed a great difference, just keeping the point on them and making sure you clean them has been key for me!

Might be a little late to the party but Thx for this amazing tutorial ! I'll be starting to paint soon and I'll be using this for my morannons. Question: Is the black primer + brown basecoat necessary or can I just prime grey and start from there and will it still look ~ the same? Love your channel an keep up the fantastic work!

Thanks for watching!! Definitely not essential! to get the grimy dirty look that the black and brown gives you all you’d need to do is a dark brown wash at some point after painting armour and the clothes! Hope that helps!

What colours would you recommend for the different types of skin of heads for the morrannon orcs

sickly greenish pale, brown, yellowish, black, grey, flesh, redish

Good guides for beginners and army painters, with an army at this standard one should be proud. However, I am not a big fan of the eyes. For my own part I only paint eyes on some models and leave the areas dark for others, for example if there could be a shadow from a hood or the brim of a helmet.

wark93 Thanks! It’s a fair point, scale-wise you’d never be able to see eye details from the distance you’re seeing these models from (relatively). And sometimes they look way better without them, but I must say I never feel like the face finished until there are eyes! Thanks for watching though ☺️

No, you can do but with plastic models they’re way less likely to chip. In fact I can’t think of ever seeing a plastic model that has chipped

Probs could have got away with spraying them silver theres so little brown on them haha.

1xoACEox1 true, and could have washed it after, but I like the dusty effect it gives the silver. Spraying silver and washing looks wet and dirty not dry and dirty!

landsurfer66 good shout, it’s the focus which keeps changing which is an issue too but I’ll have a look and see what I can use instead! It’s harder to see it with different backgrounds!

Good work. Unfortunately Tolkien does not describe Orcs as having green skin one single time. You must be thinking of Warhammer or WoW.

Bryan Booker this is true, green has always been orc skin cus of warhammer!
