wow, at 8:30ish, it looked like you were painting her face, as in face painting your model, lol. idk why, considering the pallor, yet there was already ''life'' in the piece.. i enjoy your stuff enough to want to follow a tutorial...oooh, discipline , in control, intention, a different direction to take my art as therapy. thank you!!

I used to have a passion for hyper realistic painting (I used to teach at a college as well) and I haven't touched a brush in nearly a decade. but after watching your videos I went out last night and bought all new paint, canvases, and brushes. I've got the bug once again! Thank you Andrew!!!

Andrew, I watch a lot of art channels and I have seen countless artist best works but I have never seen someone who can paint anything in the world from animals to portraits to seascapes to landscapes i mean anything. You are by far the best artist in the world imo. You are simply amazing. The Picosso of our generation. Your art will hang on museum walls centuries from now. Truly a privilege to see you create these masterpieces live.

It is fantastic how the face comes to life after you paint the hair and the scarf. Before the colors of the face, alone, looks out of place. But after you add the surrounding areas, everything comes together and “enrich” each other in a fantastic way. It is really a lesson! Thx for that!

As I watched this video in awe and, realised that, after witnessing an artist who's journey and strivings for perfectionist abilities, it reminds me of me! But, way beyond my creations. One thing struck me as I admired the painting being demonstrated and, that was, a thing that distracted me to analyse more, your art form of spoken words. Your clarity and perfection in the way you convey your speaking. All the way through you never hesitate nor waffle. You never throw in bridging words or noises. You are not just a modern day Master like Da Vinci in painting, you are a master of the spoken words. Unbelievable and a privelege to come across someone so unique as you.

Having invested in this video, it is one that I will watch over and over again. Andrew teaches in a no nonsense practical way. There are two painting sessions included for each of the two models, and the entire painting process is covered thoroughly from composition, sketching, block-in, modelling, to finishing touches. He discusses colour palette choices, colour mixing in detail, and achieving colour harmony with a limited palette. Starting with the end in mind, breaking down the complex into sections or phases which really helps me not become overwhelmed, instead absorbing loads of tips, brush techniques, importance of form, controlling textures, ambient light, deepening of shadows, saving the best for last in tonal highlighting. Includes discussion on mediums used. In summary this is brilliant teaching and very good value for money and I am putting these tips into practice with more confidence than before. He also mentions review, making corrections, painting loose and tight. My recommendation is simply this. If you want to learn portrait painting in oils, buy this video! Thanks so much Andrew for sharing your talent. :))

There are other me’s, but they usually only drink Carva , wear nylon nickers, work for the BBC and make dolphin noises. Some of the other me’s are even men and live on theoretical slave ships, would you believe it? And did you see my mother looks like a Russian? 😆 just as I thought gas was gonna cease escaping from the pipes and 90% of the over 80’s die of a cold winter. And you know, there’s another of these videos where he looks like my nephew Danny; and I remember back in the gadaffi day when the comments on the David Mitchel column in the daily mail, said they’d sent that video of Danny to the police station.; how weird 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’d be really rad if you came up with something original. I’ve been following your stuff, and it appears most of your work has been reproductions of photographs. Is art the reproduction of photographs? Are your paintings an imitation of real life, or the imitation of photographs that imitate real life? Why paint when the image is already made? Does art stop at technical exercise? 🤷‍♂️
@AndrewTischlerArt
@AndrewTischlerArt 5 жыл бұрын
David, the point is to reduce THIS painting down to a technical exercise to help others with their portraiture. It's just a demonstration of how to paint. The "nuts and bolts" if you will. I did this because there are many folks out there who are hobbyists who do not have the time, means and money to hire and work with models. Sometimes a photograph is all you are given. This is not my preferred method, but it was a conscious choice for this exercise. As for my other paintings, I like to make studies from the field and bring this back to the studio and use these with photographs to create something unique. Perhaps it's time to start voicing your artistic vision to an audience on your channel. The floor is yours. You clearly have a lot to say, and I think if you feel this is not an acceptable way of creating art, go and create something that satisfies your criteria, and please share your process. Whilst I love to help others, my paintings are only supposed to please one person - myself. It's the process I share with others, this is separate. I am trying to scratch the itch within and whilst I don't do that with every painting, I get close at times. I appreciate you taking the time. Thanks for the comment.

I have bought several of Andrew’s instructional videos including his latest How to Paint a Portrait - Realistic Portraits of Rere and Stephanie. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! I highly recommend it!!! It’s an incredibly insightful video at an incredible price! It contains 7.5 hours of jammed packed information. Andrew walks and talks you through every step of his thinking and decision-making process from his conception of the idea, posing and lighting of the subject, working out the composition and value structure in a study, selection of paint colors and materials, all the way through executing the details of final paintings...and much more! I have bought numerous videos, often of shorter duration, from other accomplished artists for double the price with fewer lessons provided. Andrew's video is a great purchase deal and a must have for any serious artist who strives to paint realism

This is the first time I actually was able to watch the painting process in detail. Other sites just show speed painting or just a second or two of this type of detail Thanks for sharing!! Absolutely beautiful painting!!

Thanks so much. I am a frustrated artist, I work as a CG Artist which I love but with a degree in traditional Illustration I know I have it in me to do some fantastic paintings. My drawing skills are great, I know I can paint, I just need to relax, get the technique correct (which I know much anyway) and watch your videos for a push and inspiration. Thank you as your videos are amazing and let's hope I can finally finish artwork I am happy with!
