Love this… I forgot to start with the paper texture and then added it later. I forgot how much of a difference that makes! Love Blacksands… always find these tutorials relaxing… I love Calvin’s voice.

Can you please tell me, do you record the voice and the video at the same time audio first record the video, then you add the voice over?😢❤ love your process.

hi! thank you so much! I record the voice during the painting processr ecording. I have a headset I designed to hold the microphone just under my left eye.this keeps the microphone away from my breath which can make the audio sound kind of booming. when I'm filming the videos and doing the voiceover I'm also thinking a bit about the editing. So sometimes I will stop painting and just describe what I'm gonna do next, then I'll record that part, and line up the audio and the video in editing. But this is something I do rarely because it hit makes the video feel disconnected somehow (sort of like when my hand gestures aren't lining up with what I'm saying) Recording and audio and painting at the same time is not easy at first . You'll have to force yourself to practice but after 10 videos or so, it will come more naturally. Any kind of voiceover for me is very unnatural and not in my normal skill set. I really had to push myself and it took a while. i'm embarrassed to say but at the very beginning, i was so frustrated that i cried!!! it's very frustrating when you aren't able to create nice sounding narration but you really need it for your project.

@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438I’m in your boat. I’m an artist frustrated by the idea of having to include video and video editing to my skillset. I also cried when I had to set up a memorial video for my dog who was about to pass. I was both mourning and frustrated by a simple slideshow attached to music. Obviously there’s a lot of tools that automate things as long as you pay the monthly, but not something you’re looking forward to when you don’t do this often. It’s just the way the future is moving and the future is video and animation no matter the field you’re in.

What is your abstract round brush setting? I downloaded the brush set and couldn’t get the same affects . My brush has very narrow stroke , it looks completely different …

Hello again, Calvin! If I may ask, do you always print your artwork after each tutorial (or sometimes just edit it to look like it's on the paper/frame)? When you print it, what kind of paper do you use? :) Thanks a bunch! 😊

If you’re looking for good quality paper/cardstock, I get mine from Red River Catalog. I recommend getting a paper sample pack to try them out.
