You are a seriously good teacher. I think what makes the paint process overwhelming to a beginner, is the huge number of techniques and where they fit in the process. I would love a painting outline / flowchart listing all the techniques and when they can be used in the process.

Thank you very much. I do think alot about the order in which things are done. So when ever you watch a tutorial of mine thats kind of the order to do things. base colours, shades and definition, highlights and then all the fun stuff

Awesome video, as always :) It helps me a lot because my aim is to achieve box art style of my minies. One thing that I dont understand though is why you do not drill the barrels and why you dont finish the base before final reveal. Its just a tiny fracture of work you alredy put into your project and it will just move it to higher level. It feels unfinished somehow (but the paint job is superb) Thank you and keep up the great job !
@TableTopReadyYouTube2 ай бұрын
thank you, drilling barrels and doing the bases is a personal choice. I don't personally drill barrels so I wouldn't want to do them in the video and create the expectation that it needs to be done. It doesn't add or take away from what I show. For the bases its purely down to time. After spending a week painting I don't really want to deal with the base. Everyone does the base however they want as well and I want to make the focus about the miniature and not the base. If I was using them for a game I would do the base, but as most of the time I do miniatures for tutorials only I leave blank

Hi Michael, awesome job on this as always! :) Quick question: what varnish you use to seal the models and protect the paint job ? Any good recommendations? Thank you!
@TableTopReadyYouTube2 ай бұрын
hello, I'm glad you liked the video. I don't use varnish. now the miniatures are plastic its all very durable to be honest. If you do use varnish it can effect the colours and ruin your hard work spent painting

For the first part I can see its primed in black. Could you skip this potentially by starting off with black undercoat spray paint citadel make potentially or do you recommend going in with the macragge blue primer, then going in with the black
@TableTopReadyYouTube9 күн бұрын
you can use what ever undercoat you want to be honest, its just what I had from painting ultramarines. I would alwasy do a base colour first though, try not to work from your undercoat even if its the right colour

Great video! One question: I see you using Microset. I also have Microsol. What is the difference? And why do you only use Microset?
@TableTopReadyYouTube2 ай бұрын
The Micro sol is a stronger solution that micro set, although you can use both , I wouldn't want to risk the paint as it can be ruined. Micro set is enough for these smaller transfers

Hi, ive just gotten back into painting with some Dark Angels and was wonder about the metal paint. The box says on the back that Retributor Armour is needed but when i have used it looks notably darked and more redish then in the art where it appears more pale. Is it supposed to look that way or am I seeing things or is there something I'm supposed to do with the paint? and with the wraith bone used for the skull aquilla the paint never seems to go down smoothly, not really sure what i was doing wrong but if you or anyone has advice id love to hear it. Thanks.
@TableTopReadyYouTube2 ай бұрын
The paints on the box are just suggestions and recomended paints. what you see on the box as had a lot of shades and highlights which can change how the colour from the pot looks. you have to consider lighting and digital corrections as well. I do have a very recent dark angel tutorial if you wanted to go check that out and I would watch my painting your first miniatures video as well to give you a good idea of what painting miniatures is like :D
