I have never seen a tutorial with the video edited this way. I really love the editing, the way that the camera switches to the palette every time you go to get more color. It makes the feeling of immersion so much better and we are made to focus on what you are doing more clearly. Another great youtube artist(Liron Yankovsky) said in one of his videos, to people trying to advance, to watch closely to what the teacher/artist is doing with their palette. That was great advice. The only problem is that most youtube instructors tend to have either a part of their palette in the shot or none at all and the most important part(imo) is neglected and thats no good. So thank you again for taking the time to edit the way you have done. That is so helpful! I imagine it takes time to edit the video to switch shots every time you reach for your palette but those little(big) details like that are much appreciated 👍

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time and trouble to write so generously. My wife does some of the filming. And our son is the brains behind the editing. He is not a professional film maker but very quickly realised that the best thing to do would be to ‘’follow the brush’’, as he puts it. I can’t understand why so many other instructional videos haven’t come up with the same simple idea. Just in case you haven’t seen them, there are several other videos which you can view by going to my website www.andrewpitt.co.uk We have just made a fresh video which will be available shortly. Thanks again for getting in touch.

Most definitely enjoyed the demonstration painting.Your teaching approach is excellent. It is a pleasure to watch you create your art. Additionally you and whomever is assisting you to produce the superb multi camera presentations are to be complemented. They are by far some of the best video work used for this purpose and seems to get even better with each new demonstration. No off camera mysteries, makes the learning process significantly more valuable. Watching an artist's hands and brush work is so important for students and then to see it from several angles and the palette mixing and water control activities as they happen is a real treat. Thanks for presenting these so thoughtfully.

Thankyou for this. I will bookmark this instruction and come back to it once monthly. I need constant reminders to 'keep it fresh' - as you say. Lately, I've started to set a painting aside before I think it's done, then come back to it in a few days with a fresh perspective. I might then add a few strokes, or leave it alone and call it finished. It is a constant struggle for me to avoid overworking the paint, so I appreciate your instruction very much.
@AndrewPittArtist3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for getting in touch. You are not alone grappling with the ‘’over-working problem’’. Instead of finishing, why not just stop painting? (Say, about 10 minutes before you put your brushes down).

Thanks for your kind comment. Learning to paint takes a lifetime, and then some. Remember, the reason painting is so fascinating is that you are not painting what you know, but what you have just found out. Good luck.

That was awfully helpful indeed, thank you. I wonder how you approach throwing cloud shadows across the land, as would probably ocurre, I surmise, on a day with clouds such as you’ve painted.

Thanks for getting in contact. I would, and have done in the past, paint a cloud shadow in the same way as I paint all forms. There are no special techniques for particular things - concentrate on tone, colour and edges. www.andrewpitt.co.uk

@@AndrewPittArtist Thanks kindly for your reply. I’ve been going to school on your skies, which have an attractive balance between realism and the flare we seek in watercolor.
