I just discovered you! You are my new favorite! You're phenomenally talented! What a gift you've been given! Even your voice tone is pleasant to listen to as you instruct. Not true with most~ and yours are nicely quiet, with no background music. I would love to see you do some Hollyhock~ loved your Pansies, Iris and Sunflower! And of course~ your birds (and other animals) are incredible! Everything you do is fabulous!

“Stunning”...... Your passion and devotion to time spent, .....’days’ of your talent come through on every page, indeed every subject you paint. ‘Time, planning and patience clearly are beneficial factors in all your beautiful paintings. Sadly, a great deal of us amateur/beginner painters lack the time factor. 😔 ......Never the less, we can always glean wise instruction and purposeful care and attention to detail that will enable us to benefit our overall results with our own paintings. Thank you Louise, 🌹☺️

Hi Louise Have you ever tried Quinacridone Gold or Quinacridone Gold Deep by Daniel Smith? Just a suggestion, it is one of my favorite colors in watercolor. It is a beautiful rich yellow, deep yellow that I would use in place of the ochre or add it to the ochre. I love your videos and watch them over and over. I also suggest to my watercolor students to watch you, I love your explanations and step by step techniques. Let me know if you try the Quinacridone Gold, I use Daniel Smith and Holbein Watercolor Paints, some Winsor Newton as well. The sunflowers are beautiful. Thank you

Hi Louise, I love your wonderful videos! The instructions are super clear and your skills are amazing! I was wondering what technique you would usually use when you paint flower petals- do you usually paint a wash of lighter color first, let it dry, dampen it again, then add more layers and details? Also, how do you decide when to use just wet paint on top of the dry wash and when to dampen the area again?
@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes that's correct. How do I decide when to work on damp paper or dry paper? If I want soft edges on my shapes I'll work on damp paper. If I want hard edges on my shapes I'll paint on the dry paper. That's a very basic explanation but that is it in a nut shell. 🧡

Hi Louise,as usual i am totally confu sed, i was watching your sunflower demo on u tube and at the endi saw a promo of your gladiolis and painting a Galah in multi colours was how can i gain access to those paintings.Many thanks Toni.

@LouiseDeMasi 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Toni, I'm working on the Galah class for Skillshare. I'm still editing it and I'm about 3/4 of the way through it. It will be my next class that I publish on Skillshare. Because I'm getting to the end of it I've been thinking about what to do when I've finished it. So I did a poll on Instagram the other day to find out whether my students wanted to do a Hydrangea class or a class with a white flower as the subject. The poll was pretty much even with the same amount of people wanting a Hydrangea class as a White Flower class. So I said I'll just have to do both. Galah class is coming next, followed by a hydrangea and then a white flower.

Louise, what material do you recommend to beginners, who doesn't have conditions to buy the greatest materials like winsor & Newton and Arches paper? I follow in all social medias, including your skillshare class, but I can't have the same results, of course I don't have your experiencen but my watercolor (pentel brand) is not so good.
@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Janaina. I always recommend Arches paper- even for beginners because you just can't get the same results with cheap paper. When I first started painting in watercolour I used the small A5 size Arches paper pads. I bought lots of them and I just kept painting little paintings. When I got more confidence I started buying A4 size Arches pads. Then I moved to A3 size then A2 size as I got better. If you don't want to use Arches there are other good brands too. Look for paper that is 100% cotton and is hand or mould made rather than machine made. Winsor & Newton make a student grade watercolour paint called Cotman. They're good quality but they're not as vibrant as artist quality paint.

What is the difference in your teachings on YT, Patreon and Skillshare? Which one is more detailed? Or they are all the same?
@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 5 жыл бұрын
Good question! On KZbin I post little snippets of my classes, so you are just getting a sample here. My Skillshare classes take me the longest to produce and edit. I have to break the classes up into chapters and I film all the face to camera introductions etc. I can spend months working on them. My Patreon classes are a similar length to my Skillshare classes but I can produce and edit them quicker. I don't break them up into chapters- they're just long videos. Some of the classes are broken into 2 parts. For example this sunflower is over 2 hours in length so I've broken it into two videos - one with the flower and the other with the leaves. I take my students step by step through the entire painting. Skillshare and Patreon are similar in detail but I do spend more time on producing my Skillshare classes - that's why they are less frequent.
