I was in Portugal many years ago, including Lagos, and I bought a few watercolour prints for souvenirs. I did give this tutorial a go, and I'm very pleased with the results, especially since I now have a remembrance of my trip that I painted myself! Thank you, Paul. That shadow purple caused your painting to come alive. Fantastic. It is amazing how you brought this all together. I was going to ask you about the hardliners between back trees (purplish) and then you went in and softened it. That's an excellent idea. I would SO love to visit Portugal. Family on my dad’s side are from Madeira. The ones who migrated to Maui started a pineapple plantation. That’s where my grandma was born, in Hana, Maui, Hi. Then her family moved to the USA, and she married my grandpa. It would be lovely to see all their stomping grounds!

I must confess that the parts that I enjoy the most are those that are in real time. They give me a far better sense of the time and deliberation that you devote to each exquisite detail. I am also learning sooo much from your 'Watercolour' book. It is absolutely lovely and by far and away the most beautiful watercolor book that I own.
