I love Waxwings. Here, where I live in Manitoba I get to see them for only a couple days every February. My neighbour has some trees with berries and every February - hundreds of Waxwings descend for just a few days and gobble up all the berries on the trees and whatever has landed on the ground - and then - they are gone again until next year. What a wonderful sight it is...I could sit and watch them all day while they eat. Thank you Harriet for sharing this with us.

Wow that sounds wonderful. They are so beautiful! I think we have the Bohemian waxwing which is more like this painting but the Cedar could be achieved very easily by following this tutorial and tweaking the colours.

@@deWintonPaperCo Aahh! Yes! That would explain why it doesn't look quite like our Cedar Waxwings! It's a lovely tutorial, though, thank you. I too will try to tweak it a bit to look more like our beloved local Cedar Waxwings (Northern Utah) I've never painted a bird before! Scary, but exciting!

I am loving the commentary about brush strokes: angle of brush, what/why . As I am sometimes redoing some tutorials and also looking at older videos, I am paying more attention to the brush angle. Very helpful to me as a very new watercolor painter - Thank you!

Brilliant painting. I am unable to get buff titanium and moonglow here in Australia. They are definitely by Windsor and Newton??
@karencooper217711 ай бұрын
I know the titanium buff they say you can mix your own. Check on the internet for mixing it. The Moonglow here where I live I have only found mail order from Blick arts. They are a U.S. Company and I don't know if they ship overseas. I'm going to try and check if there is a mixing table for Moonglow.

This might sound a little funny but I just got this idea watching you paint this bird. Have you heard of the bird Buddy bird feeder? It’s a bird feeder with a camera and there’s an app that you download and can see all the different birds that come to your feeder. I think the app can also tell you what the type of name of the birds are. I was thinking of getting one and just thought, it would be cool if you had one and then painted the different birds you get visiting your feeder lol. It’s probably a silly idea but it just popped in my head and I thought that would maybe be something cool to do if anyone had the feeder. 😊
@deWintonPaperCo11 ай бұрын
I love that! Funnily enough we've positioned all our birdfeeders to be easily visible from our windows and because we work from home we get to see them all day. I'd love a proper close up image though.

To talk about your music. It is not only disturbing when it is too load. It is also annoying when it is more silent, because you only hear the accent sonds (I can't find a better English word). I always look around whether some bell is ringing in my room. But I love your loose style of animal painting.
