Dear Adele, Abstract art is a piece of cake............................until you try it. I'm 75 and my love for it started in the late 50s with Franz Klien. Went through all the periods for decades until I saw Cy Twombly. I went out and got a sheet of 4x6 plywood, primed it and The world of abstract art came crashing down and boy did I get a reality check. Fear, Terror, Pain, Anguish, Disgust,Intimidation, and the list goes on. That blank canvas put the fear of God into me. I'd rather walk through a minefield blindfolded. Courage, bravery, and skin as think as a Sherman tank. You are great, no, incredibe is more like it, and I love your videos. Thank you.

When this chapter came up...I was a bit disappointed...Maybe his work didn't show up that well on my computer...I loved your tutorial...I learned so much from listening and watching you paint in his style. At the end of the 10 minutes...I LOVED your work/style I still don't understand the fuss about his work But YOURS..WOW...There was so much more interest ...movement...depth. Thank you Maya

Cy was rejected by the American art establishment…I think that further inspired his abstractions. His work got continually better up until the end IMO. Cy was inspired by the Greeks, Romans and Persians… this was reflected directly into his work. When I try painting like Cy, I try to think of my own personal inspirations in art, literature, music and relay that into a Cy inspired piece of art. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I love your style! And this video helped a lot in terms of allowing you to understand the style and not copy the actual work. What do you use to seal the painting? Since this has China pen, do you use 2 different sealants? Fixative spray for the pen and something else for the acrylic? I did something similar and it created bubble-type marks after i placed 2 types of sealants. And secondly, could you please do a piece that's deconstructed from a landscape or seascape? I think it will be lovely! Thank you so much for the videos, I'm learning so much! Keep safe.

What do y'all do with your artwork? I have hundreds of paintings, collages, greeting cards, matted paintings. Just sitting in a closet. I live in a small town that still isn't doing art shows. What to do with all my work? I tried social media but that was useless. I've given my friends so many paintings I'm sure they don't want any more

You can donate some to local schools for any fairs that they have to raise money, you can gift some to Charity/ thrift shops so that any money that they make from them goes back into their charity. I donate mine to a Hospice charity. Small things I often leave in unexpected places, like the Library or a fast food place, with a note to enjoy and have a nice day.

Hello Adele, this is a random choice within your content to say that I LOVE all of your videos. It could have been every single one. Slowly but surely I discover myself to everyday watching a little bit of ADELE ! I love your work and your tipps and everything you have to share. Until now I have been a representational based painter (which you can see if you scroll through my YT content), but since I met you something inside me is changing towards an abstract kind of artistic thinking and I'm doing my first baby steps in this direction. Thank you sooo much for sharing your knowledge and being so friendly, couraging and nurturing. Sorry, this turned out to be longer as I wanted it to be, and my English is not the best, but I think you know what I want to say. Have a nice week !

minimalistic painting is so hard. I have been doing pour painting and I wonder if I can do this over it. I have some blue ones that aren't interesting enough. I guess I would have to get a real transparency to the paint as you do here, to just let some show under. But how well does the china marker work over painted canvas? I have not used a china marker since 1976 in art school!

China markets work great over paint. Give it a try. 🌸

@@AdeleSypesteynStudio OK!! Its funny, my daughter got married at an upscale venue and they have paintings there very similar to your style and the circles you do with a branch. I have spent 3 years and tons of money in pours and I have thrown out so many canvases (after painting over. ) I have gone back to sewing. Not sure which is messier!

Adele, I have quite a few primarily blue paintings that I am interested in painting over. You mention always starting with a dark background to give your paintings depth...would you paint over a varied blue surface with a raw umber, too- or paint your neutrals over the blue? I get "confused" when painting over a completed painting and usually end up painting completely over the surface, but then none of the underpainting comes through and I think I could be getting more "benefit" from the underpainting....

You can certainly use thick paper and put it on acrylic paintings. I do it all the time. Just use the gel, not the medium to attach it. 🌸

I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks so. Give a child some paint and brush and they could do better than this. So many people like this horrendous, scribble. What is wrong with them 😕
@margauxv253 жыл бұрын
It's because you don't know how to read an abstract painting. Abstracts have a lot to do with conveying emotion. You are trying to read realism into it. It also takes composition and balance to make it work. You might be able to push out one or two but long term it's not so easy as it looks.
@smitha37483 жыл бұрын
@@margauxv25 oh shut up. I can show my neices "drawings". She has many that look "different" and better than this crap
@jollysheldone4254 жыл бұрын
No Adele, it really is just scribble! Cy Twombly is the archetypal example of how deluded the art scene and it's critics can be. It's a classic tale similar to "The Emperors new clothes" groups of pseudo intellectuals trying to put meaning and substance into something that is actually just crap.
@mbiriviri3 жыл бұрын
I doubt that Cy Twombly ever thought while painting “this will make it interesting” - nor did he ever think of nonsensical rules like “threes”....Why do mediocre uninspired “artists” think they can teach other people how to paint like someone like Cy Twombly? You’ve completely missed Twombly and reduced him to a style - which you basically copy while saying you’re not
@stevenp28832 жыл бұрын
Don't get stuck in what you THINK Cy Twombly thought, or even in what he actually thought. Cy Twombly was an open person, and I could easily see him embracing the idea of an "everyman" accessibility to abstract painting / mark making (OR NOT). Adele could have easily hired a "professional writer" to explain her work in a different way, that would have you "buying it hook, line, and sinker." The meaning of art can either be an endless waste of time, or you can make the work mean whatever YOU want it to mean. For the atheist, there truly IS no God.
@LuckyGuu4 жыл бұрын
Twombley's work looks like crap. Just close your eyes and go crazy. Then get someone to hype it as genius. No offense
@hayleywood31113 жыл бұрын
How do you do a painting like this? You Scribble on some paper, then slop some paint over it. I’ve never seen anything so ridiculous in my life. Not sure why so many people like this rubbish!
