I had my doubts without any sanding or primer before. But damn. Proved me wrong 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

two things to point out that others should consider before taking on this job. 1. the caliper bolts are one time use, they should not be reused as they are torque to yeild, look it up. 2. removing the hydralic lines will introduce air into the system and brakes will need to be bled... as an added bonus, it's very simple to remove the brake pads, so may as well do that instead of masking them.

Thanks for the video, love the new look but what happened between giving the callipers a coat of paint and BANG! finished items are on the car! Almost look like you gave up and bought new callipers!! Would have liked to see the decals being applied. Are the decals made to last through heavy braking, high temps?
@bigblockkev3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately my camera decided to not record while I was applying the decals. So frustrating. The decals are supposedly able to hold up in high temp conditions. They seemed to be quality vinyl decals. Thanks for watching!

Looks great! Taking time and care paid off. Since you disconnected the brake line from the caliper, did you have to bleed them after?
@bigblockkev3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I had to bleed them. With a pneumatic bleeder it takes about 10 mins. There are also front and back bleed screws on these Brembo calipers as well.

Yes, but they are very easy to bleed.

Is this better than G2, where its paint and brush instead of spray?
@bigblockkev Жыл бұрын
Yea, this comes out much better than the brush type. The finish is much better.

Huge improvement! but those 18mm bolts for the Calipers did you replace them with new ones? i have read that those must be replaced once removed.
@bigblockkev Жыл бұрын
No, put the original ones back on. Never heard of those bolts going bad after taking them off.

Are the calipers painted black or are they just black. I bought some brembos but they are painted silver. Im guessing i have to remove the silver paint first.
@bigblockkev Жыл бұрын
They were factory. Almost looked like a “raw material” like color. They weren’t painted. If yours has paint on them, I would suggest removing the old paint first for longevity of the new paint.

I’m willing to take my calipers off to paint, but question is, did your brake fluid seep out a lot while painting the calipers?

How much did the Calipers cost you initially? I have a 2021 2LT RS with stock calipers. Any good websites where I can get these brembo calipers at a good price.
@bigblockkev Жыл бұрын
These calipers came already equipped on my 2012 SS. I just reconditioned them to give them a better look. To get this setup can be expensive. You may possibly want to try to get a used set off of eBay to keep it affordable. Otherwise, you will need to sped upwards of $2,000.
@sergiocasassalcido96673 жыл бұрын
Do you recommend taking calipers off completely to do the paint? Anything special you have to do when it comes to removing the brake line
@bigblockkev3 жыл бұрын
I would recommend taking them off completely. It allows you to do a much better job. When removing the brake lines, there's nothing special. Just a bolt and a copper washer that acts as a gasket. Also, by removing the calipers, you'll need to bleed the brakes after installing them back on the car. Hope this helps.
