How to Paint Brilliant Light in Watercolor (It's not as hard as you think)

Light draws me to a subject more than anything. It is inspiring to me and has been a huge growth area as I learn how to depict light and shadow.
A couple of things that are important when you are painting light are:
Determine the brightest part of your painting from the start.
Remember that you can't have light without darkness.
Use thick mixtures of paint to help you achieve your desired contrast.
Create warmth around the brightest part of your painting.

I’m intrigued with with wetting both sides of the paper. How is it that the paper doesn’t warp after the 1st wash dries and you apply the mid tones? Love the video and the painting. I love that stark contrast.
