Great looking colour scheme. I also really like how you highlight the black areas. I've never been able to get that quite looking right.

They are both water color washes in this video. Water color and oil wash work pretty much the same. It's a preference thing, if people want to work with mineral spirits or water as a thinner.

I wanted to show that you could use the water colors also. Kinda following up my quick tip.

Grrrr. You make it look so easy. Must practice more! Could you include some comments on PSI you are using or other tips while you are painting these?

Try "The Masters" brush cleaner and preserver. Use it to clean your brush, then point it with your finger tips.

I really like your technique and your demos make things very clear but have you talked about how you make your bases anywhere? (If so I haven't come across the clip yet!) The "broken concrete" thing you do is very stylish and looks really cool! I'd love to try making some of these... Thanks and please keep doin' what you're doin'!!!

I'm gonna be getting back into 40k at the start of next year, New year, new army and I've chosen the celebrants as my army. So this video is super helpful on what paints to use and how to do so. Hopefully I can share the end result once my own troops are finished.

15-20 psi. I usually don't cover everything I do because it's personal preference. PSI can change depending on how tick the paint is and how much control you need and how you want the paint to react. You will adjust all the time. It's not set in stone as far as settings go so I don't bring attention to it. 15-20 psi might not work for you.

How come you use a watercolour wash on the armour and an oil wash on the gun? What is the difference between the two and what reason would you use one over the other? I use oil washes regularly.
@boxbuyer200811 жыл бұрын
By "Surface tension" you mean rough spots that would absorb the black wash.?

I have to ask... why the water color wash instead of your usual oil wash?

And why use the water colour wash instead of an oil wash in your previous tutorials?

do watercolors make for good washes overall and are they a suitable alternative to regular washes

It's going to vary place to place. 40k is declining fast at my FLGS. Fantasy is holding its own. Infinity is growing all the time. The dominant force though is X-Wing at the moment.
@LesterBursleyMiniatures11 жыл бұрын
Over here 40k is still dominant. Prices going up is nothing new.
