I bought an Iwata Eclipse off of CRaigslist 7 years ago and the seller gave me a Badger Crescendo 175 for free. She was leaving the hobby and unloading everything. The catch is it has massive backflow and I cant get it to work! Cleaned it like crazy multiple times but no dice. Ultrasonic cleaner with 99% Isopropyl and the old swap scrub. I wish I had someone to show me what I'm doing wrong.

Wow what a blast from the past, I watched this over 13 years ago and this video is what got me into hobbying. This video is still better than 90% of tutorials put out there now so you are a true pioneer!

*INFO HAZARD!* Les is giving very, very bad advice in this video, it should have been removed by now! Absolutely *DO NOT USE LEAD FISHING WEIGHTS IN YOUR PAINTS!* The lead with cause a chemical reaction in the paint and cause it to coagulate or solidify and they will be ruined! I lost about 50+ bottles of VMC and Game Color paints because of this REALLY AWFUL bit of advice. Use ceramic beads from a craft store instead.

Hi! Can someone help me? Can I use any color of Silly Putty to mask paintings? I've bought Silly Putty for this purpose as well, but I couldn't choose the color from the online shop I got it. As the add photo was the one with the red egg and beige putty, I thought they'd only sell that one. But when they arrived, I got two blue ones (it says "super bounce!" on the label) and a yellow one (it says "silly scents" on the label). Since I haven't opened the eggs yet, I would like to know if there's any difference in consistency or something that wouldn't work for painting miniatures with those variations. I would already like to thank anyone who is taking their time to read and answer this 😊 Ps.: I live in Brazil and the original Silly Putty is reeeeeally expensive here (you wouldn't believe). But I bought the original anyway, since I've seen it's the best stuff for masking. That's why I'm asking for help, because if these ones don't work, I can return them without spending a lot of money, since the label isn't opened/damaged yet.

I ordered this airbrush a few years ago and couldn't get it to work out of the box. Then, I took it apart, and it was a real mission for me to build it back up. It didn't work, so I took it apart again and repeated the process. No results. The AB frustrated me to the point of giving up on it. Now, my AB collection has 5 Iwatas, including two Custom Microns, one Harder & Steenbeck Chameleon, and one Paschee Raptor. ALL of these ABs worked flawlessly out of the box. I hate the Patriot 105 and regretted my purchase. Hard to believe this is the same company that made the legendary Model H. I'm going to try to take it apart again and reassemble it, and I will use this video to assist. However, I don't think I did anything different than what the video shows back then. In disregard of whether I'm successful, thank you for this video!

Thank you for this! Have been spitting paint and realized the back lever is in the open position all the time. TOok it apart and have been having a nightmare of a time getting it back together.

Tried this with replacing Liquitex Flow Aid with Vallejo Airbrush Flow Improver (hard to find the Liquitex Flow Aid over here) and I think it came out great. 10:1 Distilled Water : Airbrush Flow Improver into the half-and-half mix with matte medium mix and then 60 drops of liquitex carbon black ink for a great heavy black wash. It's 14 years late but thanks for this Les, time to get myself more dropper bottles and a notebook for recipes.

Interesting armor color, I'm going to steal that mix to form the basis of my Heresy Alpha Legion. Hopefully they haven't discontinued Periscopes...

just a a quick question, is this the amount of disassembling needed for cleaning? The video mentions the valve casing but I don't need to do that?

This video saved my sanity. The trigger and back lever fell out while I was cleaning the needle, and I COULD NOT get them to fit in again. Turns out the tube shank had slid out of the needle tube and was misaligned. This is not the first time this has happened and frustrated me for probably hours of my life, but now I know the cause and it never has to bother me again! Thank you!

A shame this fuy stopped making videos. I got back in to the hobby lately and the landscape is LITTERED with youtube videos but as soon as I saw this today tryibg to disassemble my air brush, I saw the name, hears the voice and immediately flashed to some gorgeous paint jobs and awesome videos from years long past.

13 years later and im still using these videos as reference for my own armies Tyranids, Death Guard and Ultramarines!

Airbrush brands are consumer preference and airbrush needle sizes are (fundamentally) task specific. Best to contact a friend/store and test run brands before buying them. H&S fine needles work well with 28mm (1/56) scale miniatures. H&S are expensive because they are Deutsch-made. Badgers are a great all-around airbrush and U.S.made.

Seems I have to come back here every couple of months - a great video for chronic airbrush cloggers like me!

You did a great job! I love this product and want this company to succeed. Unfortunately 4 years after this video was made we are still waiting for wave 2 of the kickstarter to ship. So my confidence is low. I hope AOD are able to get over the hump because I'd love to buy more of their terrain.

TY - this was helpful (especially the note about not screwing the needle tube assembly part all the way back in. One thing that hung me up was the back lever. I needed to keep it behind the plunger.

Liquid "MASKOL" comes in a small jar and is purple ( really pale lilac colour ). It's a kind of elastic paint, that once you have painted on, sets. Do your normal painting and then when dry, just rub the Maskol off with your fingers or use a pair of tweezers to pull it off. As it's elasticated it stretches a little, but easily irrecoverable. Cost is about £4.50p for a small jar, which lasts for years as long as you keep it tightly sealed. Had mine for 12 years now and it still has enough for doing camouflage on at least 4 tanks. Hope this helps someone.

Broke the nozzle on my Iwata Revolution, this is so much better design and has multiple needle sizes it's an all in one airbrush, does it have teflon seals inside?

Thank you for showing this I've been hesitating to buy any after hearing mixed reviews both good and very poor on the weapons systems but I'll buy some n try them myself! Learning that alot from this hobby don't listen to reviews online videos are perfect!

I used to have death specters in 5th ed-early 6th ed. What really surprised me was GW updated their lore when I came back in 9th. The tiny faction no one but us cares about had a lore bump. Very cool video. Thank you.
