I thought dry bleach is harmless. Doesn't it turn into done kind of salt?
@nxctem2 жыл бұрын
@@dangernoodle9961 I mean it’s going to reek of bleach once dry, so another reason to wash it. Even after I hand washed my shirt, I had to throw it in the washing machine because it still smelled a little like bleach. I did this experiment in fashion design class during our textiles unit. Usually we washed the shirts in class but it was the weekend we had to take them home. My bag smelled like a pool every time I opened it lol.

Hey guys some tips from a costumer- use gel bleach! (The kind for your bathroom in a squeeze bottle) it won’t drip or run as easily. Also, get a bottle of hydrogen peroxide (brown bottle stuff.) when you are done with your design, spray the garment with the hydrogen peroxide and make sure it saturates through! This neutralizes the bleach and keeps your clothes from getting holes etc in the wash. Then just rinse throughly in the tub with water! If you want you can do another run of hydrogen peroxide as well, just to be safe. Also, check your labels: polyester, nylon, and acrylic fabrics won’t bleach! Happy bleaching!
@gildahobbs88294 ай бұрын
Hi there! I see this tip with neutralising the chloride, but when I search for hydrogen peroxide it also says not to mix it with bleach to avoid toxic fumes. Is this method safe for at home use?
@runawayfaeIX2 жыл бұрын
I love this design! But you didn't wash it before wearing? Also, a black fabric marker would probably last longer than other types of markers. Just an idea for others who might want to try it! 👍

Hi do you know what settings and temperature i should use to wash the t shirt in washing mashine?
@LeeLeesBanter2 жыл бұрын
You really need to mention that it has to be rinsed out after, or your shirt will be full of holes as the bleach will eat away at it. Water will deactivate the chemicals, while still leaving the art work 👍
@mandrakethecat2 жыл бұрын
Best to neutralize with hydrogren peroxide or other neutralizes. Water doesn't deactivate it in the fabric's fiber, so anytime it got wet, it will leak out as well (not got for your skin or lungs) as well as eat away at the fabric
@runawayfaeIX2 жыл бұрын
Just to echo @mandrakethecat you have to use a solution of one part hydrogen peroxide to ten parts water to neutralize the bleach. Please consider editing your comment. Now here's a cupcake, because you're totally right about needing to wash it!🧁😁
@mandrakethecat2 жыл бұрын
@@runawayfaeIX Question: do you know does that solution have a limit to how many shirts it can neutralize?
@runawayfaeIX2 жыл бұрын
@@mandrakethecat check out Riah's Tie Dye (it's a channel as well as a website.) She mentions how many times the bath can be reused. How many items it can neutralize would depend on how much water and peroxide you use, I suppose.

I tried this a few years back with simular great results. My experience led to a valuable lesson... everywhere I used the full strength bleach, it weakened & actually damaged/destroyed the fibers. So after a couple washes and wears, I had holes where the biggest & lightest lines had been. Maybe, if I were to try it again, I'd be ready to neutralize the bleach as I go so it's not sitting and burning the fabric while I finish the painting.
