I absolutely despised the devious licks challenge because as a result of it my school brought back hall passes. The hall passes were the grubbiest slips of paper with a string attached to them. I loathed going to the washroom and having to touch them knowing that far too many people in my school don't wash their hands after taking a piss. Also this year my school introduced free pad dispensers in the washrooms and people would always steal the pads leaving people who actually needed them with none.
@literallyafishhook2 жыл бұрын
dude i remember hall passes when i was in elementary school in the 2000s.... that shit was insane, like you'd be practically pissing your pants because the last kid who took it hasn't come back yet and it's been like half the class and you're a small child so you can't hold your bladder very well
@yourrejectallamerican2 жыл бұрын
Bro my school made you use hall passes and you had to sign out and sign in to go to the bathroom and the teachers would check the bathrooms regularly to see
@HOTUMP32 жыл бұрын
yeah, for me it was middle school, the end result was hall passes, which where signatures in the planners the school gave you at the beginning of the year- that everyone threw out- and no soap in the boys bathroom for like 4 months. oh and did i mention if you forgot your planner you were only allowed one trip to the bathroom per month unless you brought it every day. like i said, nobody still had theirs.
@Sylvadox2 жыл бұрын
We still had to have hall passes in my highschool 😭 like you were required to have them to be in the halls, and it was basically up to the teachers how it worked. some teachers even just took em away and like didnt allow kids to leave for the bathroom altogether because too many students would skip class or leave the school or just steal the pass. Cause some teachers would get fancy and use like wooden bricks or like weird items that were harder to lose and steal as their pass. Idk that school kinda sucked im so glad ive graduated
@Reddception2 жыл бұрын
The last one I can sort of wrap my head around; let's say you were poor and your family couldn't afford them, so you took most of them for yourself or sister. Although, my school has tons of pads in the nurses office for free, others might too

@@strayiggytv It's not to demonize the good deed, but criticize the reason the person does them. If a person claims to be doing good things but is only doing so for the attention, then they're hiding their true intentions, and that can lead to some sinister leaps in logic. For putting nice soap in a bathroom, it doesn't matter. But when you have people agreeing with a political or social opinion for the sake of being popular, then not backing that up in any decisions they make, they're basically faking their own behavior. And at the extreme end, you have people throwing animals into abusive or painful situations so they can film themselves "rescuing" it and look good.

I was in high school during the Devious Lick era, and it was a nightmare. You could tell it had reached our school when paper towel holders, soap dispensers, and even entire sink faucets went missing. The school, naturally, started to get strict with bathroom policies, but the challenge got so bad that students literally started stealing the teachers personal belongings, and one kid even managed to successfully steal an *entire urinal.* I'm not even sure how that last one is possible. You weren't even allowed to go to the bathroom without interrupting the whole class, and had to have the teacher walk you to the bathroom and back to the class. It was the worst. Please people, don't steal shit from school for a stupid internet trend. You make other's lives hell and you'll make you're own life hell once you end up behind prison bars.

People ripped the sinks, urinals, and toilets off the walls, remove the stall doors from their hinges, smash mirrors, clog toilets, smash the soap and paper towel dispensers. All around super embarrassing behavior

@@garlicbreadisbetter for me, the school had JUST been newly renewed and we’re finally able to walk around some of the new class rooms and an entire new building for the freshman. We weren’t allowed to go to the bathroom at all. It was go during passing time or hold it in. Which was worse bc EVERYONE goes during passing times so you get late to class. I had to end the video at the devious lick challenge because I was a custodian at a school last year and it gave me actual flashbacks and I almost cried again. The devious lick challenge never ended and kids would pull down the soap dispenser every time I put one back up. We ran out of dispensers. There was no soap in the school for months because they were backordered. Everyone kept bringing it up to me all upset. I didn't realize the whole situation actually traumatized me until you brought it back up.

My wife is a custodian at one of the high schools in our city, and last year was awful. All the soap dispensers and toilet paper were stolen, nearly as soon as they were put out or replaced. Kids where ripping doors off of stalls and smashing sinks and urinals off the walls. All the bathrooms were locked and if kids needed to go, a teacher with a key had to accompany them (to the door, not into the bathroom). Custodial is short handed there and just could not keep up with the destruction or demand for supplies. For most of the year there wasn't ANY soap, toilet paper, or paper towels in the school, and some bathrooms were closed for the year because they were beyond destroyed. The school year just started and so far there hasn't been any significant instances, so hopefully that trend has passed.

One school I visited had to have the entire septic system redone and fixed twice in a month because kids were flushing whole rolls of industrial sized toilet paper down the toilets and flooding bathrooms with the sinks. Interesting times. I'll admit to lightly blowing on the pencil to make it move after the other kids at my table asked a question.

What I've always said about devious licks is that they would have been a lot funnier if they just took stuff to be ironic and then put it back a week later, rather than outright stealing from schools of all places and annoying everyone. (Oh, and most of the bathrooms were locked at my school bc of this. Not fun.)
@StraysoftheBeyond2 жыл бұрын
I was literally thinking this he whole time. They literally have no incentive to keep soap dispensers. Also the “I stole my whole school” one was actually funny asf lol

All the bathrooms at my school were locked, which sucked because I had a legitimate bladder disorder at the time. Also, some one devious licked a snake from the zoology class at my school and killed it. So yeah, teens suck sometimes.

When the devious lick trend was going on, someone stole the napkin dispenser from the fast food place I worked at. It wasn't that big of a deal, but management wasn't willing to spend the money on a new one so we had to put a plastic bin full of napkins on the counter until a shift manager got sick of it and used his own money to buy a new one.

fun story abt charlie charlie: me and my friends played it and asked who would die and when it said yes to one of our names we would freak out, and so apparently I was supposed to die 2nd and 1 minute after we 'found out' I slipped on sand and got a concussion. Everyone thought I was about to die 💀

The whole devious licks thing was an issue at my school, but I want to bring up that we had a whole instagram account dedicated to unnerving photos of our school toilets. Most of them were mundane upsetting, or moderately strange (like a hoodie in the toilet) but my personal favorite was some anonymous fool who put a whole desk in there... Like, a whole desk, set up in front of the toilet as it you were working on the porcelain throne

The 'Devious Lick' thing got so bad at my school that we had some super expensive, sensitive scales be stolen from one of the science rooms. Made it even worse that there was a long-term sub there that was p much bullied and pushed around by the other students in my grade at the time and he was super lost about what to do in general. Absolutely horrifying, there was a whole investigation from what I heard.

This video unlocked a forgotten memory for me involving the bird box challenge. I was sitting at a table in my university and this is a fairly busy area so it’s normal to share tables with people you don’t know. Anyway, I’m working on my computer before a class and this guy sits down across from me. I look up at him and notice he’s with a lady wearing a blindfold and he pulls over a chair for her. He looks at me and makes a “shh” gesture and I was so confused because I hadn’t seen the movie I was speechless. I went back to doing my work and suddenly a hand slaps my computer lid closed and I looked up and it was the blindfolded lady. I looked at the guy like “wtf?” And he just shrugged his shoulders. Then the woman started to reach towards me and tried to touch my shoulder to which I said “don’t do that”. And the guy got flustered and he walked her away. These were grown adults in their late thirties to early forties. I thought it was a weird kink thing until I told someone else the story and they said it was an internet challenge-

the devious lick challenge got so bad at my school, that, in order to go to the restroom, you had to tell the teacher, who in turn, had to call the main office so they could get someone to bring you to the bathroom and walk you back. it was super annoying and was just an all-around hassle for everyone involved. also, does anyone feel like the "drink as much milk as possible" one has a very s3xual theme to it??? idk it might just be me being a very sensitive aroace person but it just made me uncomfortable xd

I'm so glad being a "content creator/influencer" (in quotes because these challenges are barely content) wasn't really a thing when I was in school because if anyone I knew threw a gallon of milk in a store or just robbed the school for funsies I'd have to kill them with my bare hands. I'm also glad the people I know have enough common sense to not do that obviously

I'm a high schooler, and a week ago (a few DAYS into the new school year) we went into a medical lockdown because some kids ate these super spicy chips for a tiktok video. One of them had some sort of reaction and went unresponsive, and we were stuck in our 3rd period for 40 minutes while they helped them all get over the spice. Kids will truly do anything for fame these days.

Yeah it seems like a lot of people believe they can be called an “influencer” when they just post things like fashion and generic poses. An accurate example of an influencer is when one of the kardashian/jenners said they didn’t like Snapchat and like a few days later Snapchat started talking about how much money they lost. Being an influencer means you are directly influencing mass amounts of people based off your personal actions
