Very nice work. Love how you pushed the colours, really bringing out those lovely oranges and purples. A tricky painting (hmm...aren't all paintings tricky?!), not least because the values at the point where the ocean and distant clouds meet on the right half are pretty similar, but you seemed to make it work beautifully by retaining subtle blues and oranges on either side of the horizon and emphasising those pale vertical reflections. What are you painting on?

Thanks Marvin 😊 yes it was a tricky one! I tend to soften up the horizon anyway as I the hard line tends to divide the painting in two (strange how that's more noticeable in a painting rather than a photo). I'm painting on linen glued to a cradled hardboard panel 😊

@@danielorourkeartist I've only ever painted on cheap, pre-prepared canvas board, but I'm going to give it a go on an MDF panel. Currently watching YT videos on how to prime them effectively.

@@medusayuk5854 ah good idea- I use GAC100 from Golden to prime my hardboard panels- bit pricey but it is archival so won't yellow through the gesso. I've done a video on how I prepare mine- maybe some of it would be useful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epiakIKolJ6Zpac
