Very helpful. The side of my trim is a lot wider than yours so I thought it would look awesome to paint the two sides of the trim one color so it contrasts with the siding, meeting with a neat line in the corner, but that is way tedious with the lap siding I have. I like your technique better and I'll do that tomorrow. Thank you!

What type of paint do you recommend for exterior trim and windows? There are so many options. I think they originally used cheap latex.

If painting exterior trim with a semi-gloss and it needs two coats, do you sand between coats, use a deglosser, or not do anything and paint over the first coat?

I don't claim to be an expert, or even a very good DIYer. That being said, I see when you're painting the trim around the window there's a line of light paint on the olive coat on the clapboard (if I'm even using the right term there). Like at 5:21 of the video. How to keep that from happening? Furthermore, how does one go about getting the paint into that minigap area, where the trim covers the end of the clapboard?

I believe the light paint you're seeing is the sheen reflecting light from the sun.

I used your suggestion of 3M masking tape instead of painters tape on my wood/vinyl trim and it took 8 hours to remove, caused bleed through and resulted in peeling off some of my new paint!
