Top video. For exterior work we always use the Zinzeer system nowadays. 1-2-3 prime then finish with two coats of the waterbased allcoat. A fantastic product.

Nice vid Aubrey , tried all these new fangled water based paints but oil is still best . I like to give guttering a wipe with Polytrol colour restorer , really brings them up a treat.

not really mate this job would have took 3 days with 2 oil undercoats and 1 oil gloss with bedec msp with facias and soffits this low down you could it in a day working a long day. plus oil based paint in colours since the 2010 voc regs dont dry very well they stay soft for ages and never dry as tough as whites oil based paints before 2007 were a no brainer then you had the 2007 voc reduction then another in 2010 which lowered the quality to much there not as durable as they were and take longer to dry and to fully harden plus they don't self level anyway near the way they did

I will have to give that Polytrol a go, it sound good, thanks 😀

bedec msp adheres to oil finishes well. water based quicker to apply find its difficult making it pay with oil based

Jack would you recommend Bedec MSP for exterior woodwork over other WB brands? Finding weathershield oil based exterior gloss is flaking after 3 years despite employing a pro. Thinking about paying for scaffold and doing it myself next time (dorma) and looking for a good WB paint option. Heard Bedec MSP or Barn paint is the way to go…
@jackwardley3626 Жыл бұрын
@@Liverpool1ne MSP is good. The problem with exterior re decs is your new paint is only as good as the older paint under it. Its best to strip it all back down to bare woodwork. Traditionally linseed paint was used but without lead being able to be in it its now prone to mould growth. Strip it all back treat any knots with 2 coats of knotting then 2 coats of owatrol oil leaving 48 hours between coats then 3 coats owatrol deco leaving again 48 hours between each coat. scaffolding companies will give a month for the price

@@jackwardley3626 bit of overkill. I just put owterol in sandtex flexible exterior primer after stripping, sanding and cleaning. Two coats then super Dec two coats.

I wouldn't trust all coat its not all that reliable its a bit ropy especially on old oil finished outside bedec msp is better for same price

how did you find these brushes in oil Aubrey as good as pure bristle
@AubreysAbsoluteDecorating11 ай бұрын
I have used these several times with oil based paints and really like them. They have a good bit of resistance to spread the paint out evenly and stay in shape well. Give them a bash Jack and let me know what you think.
@jackwardley362610 ай бұрын
@@AubreysAbsoluteDecorating works really well with zinsser coverstain probably the best brush ive used for that is better than pure bristle I find the only thing pure bristle is really good for these days is linseed paints. pure bristle doesn't do as well with modern solvent paints anymore still good but no longer the best

@@AubreysAbsoluteDecorating I feel your pain! I was lucky. I had six weeks of outside work in all the glorious weather between May-June. Then soon as the inside work began in July for me it began raining and didn’t stop! Makes me wonder about taking on external work as it doesn’t half mess with the scheduling when it rains.
