A trick I learnt when decorating the house is to make sure you press on the brush sufficiently to absorb any *jitters* one might otherwise have -this is useful when "cutting in" at a ceiling - but it can be applied to watercolour painting.

Number 3 was new to me: your wax resist fine line technique using masking tape and candles or oil pastels. I’m wondering if the wax in crayons works as well as candle wax. I also appreciated number seven when you demonstrated watercolor pencil techniques. “Watercolor pencils are here to make your life easier.“ lol I am looking forward to trying this more. Thank you for continuing to post. I always learn something new! 🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵

Yes wax crayons should work, soft pastels or conte will not as they are too chalky, you need wax or oil :-)

I found for the tiniest details, the most affordable tiny brushes are cheap ones intended for model painting (eg. for Warhammer but not their own brand - eBay specials instead). as they don't get much use from me, the lower quality is less important due to the fact they're highly unlikely to get used loads. plus they're often sold in larger quantities.

Your videos are always VERY helpful ❤️ I'm so grateful for your help, I really hope your algorithm reaches Mars. I bought a scalpel some days ago with the purpose of making highlights and ripples, I will try it as well for grasses, what I've used so far is the back point of one of my brushes that's ends in a sharp point. I've heard that some sharpen it on purpose with a pencil sharpener to use it to score the paper but I hate the idea of ruining my brushes, unless they're cheap. I think a stick from the garden could do as well... It's all trial and error when you're learning and that's where the fun is!

I use disposable eyeliner "brushes" I get very reasonably on Amazon for my very delicate line masking fluid work, or sharp points. The tip is like a sponge material or such, not sure. Like a 100 or so to an order, and one order lasts FOREVER. You can wash and reuse or toss them after use.

I have used dip pens some time and they are great though like you said sometimes time consuming. I started using them with ink first but they do work just as well with watercolors and the effect is much softer. The calligraphy tips are useful as well when you wish to make variegated lines. It can be very beautiful and natural when the line is not entirely the same width all the time.

Have you tried using them on wet paint? If they aren't releasing much pigment or making much of a mark it's usually a sign of low quality. Watercolor pencils can be bought seperately from art shops and online, you don't need to get a full set, so you could try a different brand :-)
