How to Paint Flameproof Motorcycle Pipes Step By Step

Flameproof up to 2000°F. Do it yourself fast and easy using the tips and techniques shown in this video . The exhaust pipes seen in this video are Spec II expansion chambers designed for two stroke motorcycles . The same principles used to rebuild ,strip and paint these pipes will apply to almost any type of painted exhaust pipes out there. I'm certainly not claiming my results are as good or better than a professional paint job but the finished product met and exceeded my expectations in both quality and cost . With a little time and effort , the average do it youself guy on a budget can acheive pretty impressive results using High Temperature rattle can paint available at most any hardware store.The high temp flameproof paint used in this video was VHT Header Paint -Silica -Ceramic Coating .

I had the same problem with fuel getting into the left pipe of my TZR 250. After chasing my tail for a couple months and throwing the parts cannon at it I fixed the problem with a new/used rotor flywheel. I used the same VHT paint on my Walter Wolf RZ350 pipes with great results too!! Great upload thanks for the tips.

@TRyanLearnBikes On my RZ I've tried spec 2, microns, Jim Lomas, Walter Wolf, and these other old ones I don't know, and the Wolfs are by far the best so I refurbished them. I got them some reinforcement welding at the cans and added a couple spring mounts to replace the garbage one from factory. Then stripped it all down to bare metal polished the cans and used VHT header with primer than a semi gloss engine enamel over that to get rid of the matte colour. Only the first "tuned" section of the pipe under the radiator flaked the semi gloss off so it looks great!! And yeah my little 1kt TZR is a little rocket :D:D I've been turning it into race spec for the street 🤫😁 Its always nice seeing other people put love into these old 2 strokes. Cheers Ryan!!

@PurpleMonkeyWaffle Holy moly man you're serious about your ride .Testing various pipes like that is dedication to task for sure .I never thought of painting over the matt with semi gloss ..thats a great idea .I may try that on another set of pipes I'm working on ..thanks .Putting a race spec bike on the street is diamond. I'll keep an eye out for that bike when Im out and about .There can only be one like it .

@@TRyanLearnBikes Never stop improving is what I say so I enjoy going the extra mile to get the results. I put a programmable ignition and PV in my TZR so I can keep it street friendly down low but also have great power from 8 to 11.5k. I know of 4 other TZR's in my area and yes mine is the one like it haha 😁👌

Have you ever had a 2-stroke with a crankcase FIRE? 2-stroke cases are vacuum tight. 2-stroke case are a sump for unburned fuel. 2-stroke cases are pretty windy with fuel charge blowing thru. Unburned fuel turds fly thru right to the expansion chamber. You don't do many wheelies do you? Research 2-stroke diesel runaways

Holy moly man thats some crazy stuff with the run away engine ...yikes....No I've never had a crankcase fire ...thank goodness...And I don't typically do alot of wheelies ...do wheelies contribute to the fire issues?
