I've tested both products in the Canadian winter in Ontario and I can assure you the Hyperdip is less durable than the original Plasti Dip! I spent so much time painting my rear after market bumper diffuser on my S550 Mustang GT and when you add ice build up to the equation with a self wash car wash it's gonna get destroyed! With ice sticking to the Hyper Dip and add a pressure washer, the ice will just pull at the Hyper dip and tear apart your hard work you've put into your project! Funny thing is my front lower bumper chin which is sprayed with 4-5 coats of the original Plasti Dip rocks and other things just bounce off of it because it's a more flexible product and can easily endure the ice and water pressure from a car wash without getting torn apart at all, go figure! P.S. For my diffuser, I also had sprayed 4 coats of clear coat for a better finish and better protection and it still couldn't endure the ice and pressure washer in the winter!

My rims came out MUCH better when I prepped the can by setting it in warm water for about 20 minutes. Made a world of difference. Also,.....you'll get better results if you do more light passes...instead of a few heavy passes...if that makes sense

I either let the spray cans sit inside the house close to the vent on colder days, or let it bathe in the sun to warm up before rattling and painting. Make sure to clean the nozzle before spraying. And, tilting the can upside down to empty the nozzle for like 5 seconds and wipe down after each coat.

Plastic dip is a matt black, which is just that matt black with rough finish no shine. Most people doing the black out on badges they do matt black. I used plastic dip on my exhaust tip looks great and which tire throwing dirt and debri. It still looks great no nick's or chips. Washes of nice and easy. Been on for a few years and still looks like new. Hyper dip is satin finish so yes it is smoother and has a shine to it. I sure it's a great product it is going to come down to what the owner has in mind for his or her vehicle.

One step you want to do is do 4 tack/dusting coats. You cannot use the same technique as you would with the PlastiDip. I helped develop the coating and you want to treat it more like spraying spray paint. The wet coats must be done wet. You dont put a pooling wet coat on though you must do multiple passes over an area to wet it out so there is no runs or sags.

I’ve plasty before and yeah it’s OK but if you really gonna do your wheels you would paint them but between the two it’s not a big deal might just stick with the plasty dip you’re putting on removable coat so really don’t worry about how deep one is over the other, I mean really nobody’s gonna care about it except for you the owner of the vehicle so I wouldn’t spend more money on so-called better rubber spray.

This was my first time spraying Hyperdip and i gotta say it looks and feels alot better than regular plasti dip, its not as tacky so you know brake dust wont cake up on there so easily. After plastidip is applied and when it’s time to wash your car, does it hold up with the usual / normal wash? Or, do you have to clean the rims differently so you don’t accidentally peel off the dip?
