Absolutely lovely. I do wish there wasn't so much time laps when darkening the colours. You do amazing work.

Hi, Helen~ This is Phyllis from Washington State in the USA~ My daughter, Cindy and I have just recently found out new love in watercolor painting~ I never cared for it, cuz I've always done oil painting and just love it. Besides, I always thought watercolor painting was pretty sloppy~ But now, after really getting into it, I find that it is much harder to do than oils~ But is sure is fun leaning~ And I absolutely LOVE your techniques!!! FANTASTIC!!!

This is such a pretty flower and the colors are beautiful. It would be nice if you taught this in more detail in your Patreon class. It is simply a lovely flower to paint. When you speed up the video, there are things that are missed like your color changes. I do not believe I saw it in your Patreon class. Thanks much.
@raecampbellsstudio3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Since this year and when KZbin became my full time job ( as well as Patreon) I tend to give Patreon patrons exclusive content. That way they get value for money and are not paying for the same videos on KZbin. But it certainly is a consideration to do something similar. By the way, but there is a yellow lily coming out in a couple of weeks, here on KZbin.
@ladyhecate94503 жыл бұрын
This is true but the big difference would be no speeding up the video much and explaining how you got those transitional colors. Lols...for beginners, we really watch and listen and want to know more. Hence we go that little extra mile and seek you out on Patreon. You explain everything so nicely. Some instructors give you a tease of a botanical painting they did showing 6 to 8 minutes and then tell you if you want to see the entire tutorial, you can find her at ..... and she provides the link. I have gone to checked out their tutorials for a month on Patreon but their teaching method was not for me. You have so many nice tutorials on KZbin but you could mention for a more detailed version of the tutorial one can find it at Patreon. This is what I thought you were doing. I love how you teach. You are so very nice and kind and you are really dedicated into teaching we struggling artists. It is easy to see.
@raecampbellsstudio3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate this - I did consider going down this route when I started my channel - but as you say, most other creators do this (probably for good reason- since it can earn more money lol) but I decided on a different approach - you may have noticed that some of my earlier KZbin videos are speeded up versions of the Patreon ones (the Magnolia last year and the Anemone - both of which are full versions on Patreon) - I like to give my Patrons value for money - by watching videos that are not open on KZbin - just for them - and no ads to watch - - this Lily was a fairly simple painting (ish) and I wanted to make it easy for everyone - whereas the Patreon vids are more indepth - hope this makes sense xx

Thank you Helen for this opportunity to learn from your skills. This was my first try at watercolour, so I found it a bit difficult to control my brush. Also, I noticed that my paper became a bit grainy with the many layers. But, on the whole very enjoyable! Thank you!
@raecampbellsstudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi Hannah. Thank you. The paper may be grainy because of too much water or not allowing it to dry properly before applying the next layer. Oh the paper may make a difference too and use a light touch. Hope this helps

Hi. I usually use Mungyo for my videos but I used mostly Winsor and Newton here apart from transparent orange which is schmincke. All of the other (later) videos this will be mentioned in the video and description. Thank you for your kind words
@annenglish29352 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much !!! As a beginner, paint names appear so different between brands - and olive green in Winsor Newton isn't the same as Schmincke. I've also ordered different names and find out they're close to identical-a newbie thing... well with that said, I'm almost 70 and in 6 months managed to buy every "Good deal" out there... gifting beginner 🎨 paint to Good Will... but I finally learned what, and where to buy. Now ready to enjoy and attempt to try a few beginner friendly videos. Thank 😊 you for sharing! From a California Gramma ❤
