Wow~ You are the master of highlight and shadow! I have learned from you that patience is key and layering is a must. I also really appreciate how you create greys and blacks that have "life" and that shadows are comprised of colours other than plain grey. I find myself examining things like clouds and asking myself, "what colour is the shadow exactly? If I were to paint this, what colours would I use to create the shadow"? As much as I LOVE your flowers and birds, this was one of my favourite tutorials. I have learned so much from you. Thank you!

Beautiful as ever Louise..I actually have a dark brown and tan version on my floor his name is Scruffy..because he is but about half the size of yours. Love the eyes and I do admire how you use other colours like blue and violet, Imnot that brave. Do you get more satisfaction out of using your own photos (I do) and do you use them often? Louise, this is great help to me right now, as Ive been asked to paint a white dog for a little girl whose pet has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. I observed that the wash technique here is different from the roses. Not wet on wet. The paper is dry. Not too much water. Thanks this is helpful.

This was wonderful. I loved Louise clear description of what, why and how she did what she did. Uses damp paper to give her more time, dryer paper for the darker and more liner fur. Her technique and approach are lovely. I will watch this one again, and watch more of what Louise does. She is excellent!!!!!

Lovely painting! May I ask. Is your pencil drawing freehand or traced? If so what method do u use to transfer to your watercolor paper? What size is this painting ? Your work and instructions were very helpful thank u

Thanks Deborah. I use saral paper to transfer the drawing onto the watercolour board. I trace it to get the main shapes and then I free hand details and parts that I've missed. This is 25cm by 35cm. It's a quarter sheet of Arches watercolour board.
