Adorable tables! Yes,I would rather be safe then sorry. Team sand and primer here.
@ARayofSunlight2 жыл бұрын
Update: It's been 2 months since I painted these end tables, and the paint is still just barely scratching when I scratch at it. So, I wouldn't recommend painting with this paint without scuff sanding or priming before. I love the finish and the brush free look you can get with this paint though!!

Really appreciate the video and the simple makeover! The pieces looked to be in really good condition. Your videos are very informative and I’ve learned from you about the scratch test. Just tried it recently… thank you!

I actually really like sanding so that's a no brainer for me. Having said that, some of my furniture is way to big for me to move so having to sand inside my apartment is a bit of a pain. I didn't really like the finish when I saw it up close on your video. It didn't look smooth enough for my liking but I totally get why you might do a quick do-over like this. Subscribing all the same since I might need to change some of my laborious habits! Instead of adding water, I add something like Floetral (other brands available) to get a super-smooth, brush-stroke-free top coat. It does, however, take longer to dry. The change in pulls was definitely a good idea. It's only a pity you didn't test this out before hand so you could have filled in the old screw-holes before painting. I know they can't be seen under the handle but little details niggle at me. (This is why it takes me SO long to get anything done!)

I'm thinking this would be good for my railing spindles which are stained espresso. They are less likely to scratch than furniture. It would be a nightmare to sand all of them down and there are a lot of spindles so I just want to maybe lightly sand them and go over it with this paint.

I'd say the scratch test was a definite fail. Scuff sanding isn't that big of a deal and totally worth it to have good adhesion.

Right, theres pretty much no circumstance where you shouldn’t sand before applying paint, unless it’s an overcoat or chemical key
@Timetraveler1111MNАй бұрын
Yeah, but if you’re doing it inside your house and you don’t have a lot of space that’s kind of the point in the video because everyone does that with the sanding that means you have to buy more tools and it takes more time and a lot of people just don’t wanna do that so that’s why her video is truly great.

Does this work on pine furniture that already has a poly finish? Or should I scuff sand or sand down to the wood? Will this paint prevent the orange from bleeding through? Thanks

I don’t see why you couldn’t! But I would recommend sanding or priming your bed first, just to make sure your paint holds up better and is more durable for a longer period of time! Best of luck on your project!

Thank you for the video. If you do use topcoat do you have to wait a whole month for the paint to cure? Also let's say you decide to paint on top of this piece some decorative designs with some craft acrylics. Would I have to wait a month for curing or can one paint on after it gets dry? I appreciate it!

Also I noticed it is beautiful to paint so the woodgrain shows. I don't know how it is done though. It is painted, not paint - washed.
@mirandamom13462 жыл бұрын
Oak is open grained, meaning that if you don’t use grain filler, you will probably see the texture of the grain through the paint. This paint probably looks much smoother on a wood like maple.

The problem I have with painted furniture is that it gets sticky. Does anybody knows if this is because I give it too many layers of paint or am I using the wrong paint? Thank you.
@ARayofSunlight10 ай бұрын
That sounds like the wrong paint to me. Latex paint (the stuff you use on the walls) feels very rubbery on furniture. Or you need to topcoat the paint with waterbased polyurethane to make it feel like normal furniture should.
