This tutorial is so great. It's very clear, well organized, well explained, and also it's also very nice to give so many details and cover so many parts of the miniature in that tutorial. Many Grey Knights tutorials only focus on the armour ! I really enjoyed watching it !

Your not the only one. Don’t worry about having fully built them. To be honest they pretty easier to paint. As well you can use iron hands steel and layer up from the grey knights steel. Kind of doing it in reverse

Gk steel is a fine color as long as you don't lay it on too thick. It layers well with Leadbelcher. I use the airbrush versions of both so I can have a solid coverage silver with the blue tint. This creator is doing a much more detailed method meant to get miniatures parade ready, rather than the GK steel/leadbelcher combo that's Just meant to get them on the table.

I've watched over 20 videos of Grey Knights in the last two weeks, and yours are by far the best - also and most artistic / original, like you have a vision for their look and not just a paint-by-number. I prefer it to the box art, even. They resemble the Grey Knights from Chaos Gate - Demonhunters. The beautiful blue highlighting you've done is sends these guys into orbit. I'm going to try and adapt your method to Speedpaints with an airbrush, but doing detail with brush. I've said it in a previous comment, but these really are amazing. Subbed, and thank you for making this video. It can't be easy to paint under a camera!

Or painting minis is something that must be done in one single process
@TableTopReadyYouTube Жыл бұрын
welcome to the hobby :D Yes, this is a fantastic way to approach the hobby and painting if your new. you can start with just base colours. then maybe next week you treat yourself to the grey knights steel to use on the armour etc etc. you can paint your miniatures over a length of time. if you leave highlighting till last, you'll find you feel more comfortable as you'll have some experience painting. Grey Knights are also grey because the army pretty much shares all the same colours, so one of your paints will go along away :D I'm planning on doing a future tutorial on this as a lot of people do ask

It'd be cool to see how you paint Grey Knight terminators. It's probably more or less the same, but I'm a Terminator Grey Knight fanboy

When they give us some new grey knight terminators you can bet I’ll be doing a video but yes it would just be the same tutorial 😛

Have you tried fuegen orange in place of reikland? Makes a nice saturated gold tone

I know some people use contrast rather than the shades and it’s something I’m interested in trying myself, so yeah I’ll give it a go 😃

This is probably a dumb question, however I am not a big fan of Citadel paints (their price is very high, at least here in the USA) and am planning on using "The Army Painter" paints. That being said, I have yet to see a good comparison of what TAP paints are considered Citadel equivalents (which TAP blue/green/red etc is equal to Citadel-wise). I love your tutorials and your minis always look BEAUTIFUL.. and I want to make sure Im not using the wrong shades. I understand fully that TAP and Citadel colors will vary because they arent recreations of those colors, however I do know that they do have similar shades that are used for similar areas of the mini. (For instance, ork flesh vs orc skin are slightly different, but used for the same thing). Not all names are that easily related, though, for all the different colors. Do you know if there is a guide somewhere that compares the like colors for these two specific companies? Because sometimes they're not that obvious when in the container versus on the mini or by name.

What your after is called a conversion chart. You can just google it and you’ll find what your after. Army painter will probably have one themselves. I’m a huge fan of the Vallejo range myself. They well priced, a great variety of colours and products including a model colours range that is made to match the citadel colours. Army painter is hit and miss for me. But make sure to do your research. Maybe get a couple of paints first to try them out before you commit to an entire range

@TableTopReadyKZbin I had no idea that a chart like that existed! Thank you very much! I have heard a LOT of good things about Vallejo, and they do seem cheaper than Citadel. I was actually looking at Vallejo before I looked at TAP, but the price of TAP is what drew me to them. TAP is the cheapest of the 3 I believe, and has super good reviews.. That being said, I don't think I like their speedpaints. A LOT of mixed reviews on those and are more expensive and I'd rather do detailed paints than a fast paint. I will do just that, try 3-5 colors of each (Vallejo and TAP) and see which I like the most. I really appreciate your response and I hope you have an amazing day. Thank you for your awesome content. Much love from a new painter in the USA!

There a fantastic range of paints. Best water acrylics for miniature in my opinion. Lots of variety and choice. My goal is also to replicate how the studio paint them so I like to use the same paints.

How do you manage to make your brushes so pointy all the time? I use S Layer as well and it starts to spread pretty quick then I have to straighten it back with my cup again lol
@TableTopReadyYouTube Жыл бұрын
I buy them pointy and do my best to keep em that way 😋 haha make sure to see the condition of the brush your buying as not all brushes are made equal. Try not to use the same brush for everything either. I have several so the work is spread out if that makes sense. Less wear and tear. Just try and be mindful as well whilst your painting.
