I’m getting much better now with my line art but when it comes to color I definitely need to be more organized now. For me it helps a lot to just practice one thing like eye rendering until I get it because then I can just do it quickly in 30m and make it look very good. You have helped me a lot I couldn’t do anything before lmao.

I recently learned about color contrast vs value contrast, I find it interesting because if you put paintings like van goghs in black and white it all of a sudden looks much worse and almost flat. Yet when its in color it seems to have a feeling of shading almost. I never really understood until I realized color contrast is why he used different color temperatures and they make our brain almost read things as shadows even though they aren't much different in value. Idk if it would be great in anime illustration but I have seen other illustration do this as well so I think it is actually possible to pull off really good pictures that look bad in black and white. I'm definitely going to be experimenting with it myself lol.

When you do monochrome for lighting; do you change the opacity when you add in color on another layer? It didn't seem like you used layer>multiply so I wanted to ask.

1:45 This a side ponytail or a... breaking the rules of proportions? Tricky... 3:27 Interesting... so THATS why some anime models look wrong... Diffuse lighting kinda inferior from a visual standpoint(or preference) ngl. 5:30 Woah... there be more to those color bars than the vertical part. 6:16 I've been trying for a bit to code an alternative tool to Adobe Illustrator(and by extension, Clip Studio Paint, since I wish to make an app that adresses illustrators lack of support for handling rasters-in-app), but dang, it's difficult! 8:30 Hair is quite smooth... no lewdness involved.

I'm not sure how he did it and I don't use clipstudio but if you lock layer and color all the shading dark blue, put it over the color layer with multiply effect on the layer and set opacity to low it usually works well for me.
