I was always taught that the head should be based from a circle and yea it technically does since the skull is round but using boxes instead makes drawing heads in perspective so much easier! It also saves time of remembering stuff that would only happen in certain angles like the cheek being more pronounced in others while some not. I’ve been drawing the head for 3 years now but still inconsistent at it. This would help a heck ton!

George B. Bridgeman: Constructive Anatomy. He's the guy who taught the box method. It's a good book to own and reference, but I think there are better ways to learn it as it's mostly illustrations and some people find it hard to translate directly from the book to practice.

I am also a beginner artist, been going at it for two and a half years now Even though I don't consider myself good, it's been a fulfilling journey I know it may sometimes look like an insurmountable challenge, but don't give up! Realize that the entire process of becoming great is based on baby steps, and little by little we'll reach new heights that were not possible before! So keep striving, and do not forget to enjoy your baby steps! At the end of the universe, I hope to see your star near mine!

It all makes sense now. The reason why I gave up art was because I gave up on improvement because the whole reason I started drawing in the first place was to get better. And I had no motivation because I thought that no matter how hard I tried, I wouldn’t be good enough and that made me wonder what the point of it was. What I’m saying is that I think I can get better and I feel motivated to do what makes me happy again.

As someone who gave up on drawing a few years ago due to a few reasons, I find your video series on how to draw amazing. When I remember back when I was actively trying to get better there weren't any good artists that would explain how they did things, so you going out of your way and explain how you do things is amazing to watch. Who knows, maybe I'll start drawing again because of these videos.

Your art improvement from 2018 to now is insane! I always drew from intuition, so my skills mostly improved slowly through the years. Seeing such progress in such short amount of time is crazy! Will be checking more of your tutorial and art, awesome stuff man.

Good tips, I do have Uldis Zarins book and I did a course by Steve Huston on NMA on heads, but I wanted a bit more of imput on constructing anime heads stylized to be anime heads, I did asaro heads a few times, but I still can't "distort" the planes to look like something like 9:27, I was going to try Watts Atelier next Head Phases since they teach using Reilly Rhythms and Asaro Head and I thought that'll improve the way I see the "flow" of the volumes of the head even if there's something more flat like anime heads, but I think it'll be better to practise that thing directly if they already teach it on Coloso by a good artist. You mentioned Chyan in your figure video (that's how I got here) did you learn anatomy maping of anime heads from him too or are other courses better focused on the head, I'm debating myself if I should choose Mogoon, Chyan, Rinotuna, Okku, Seoji....
