Always Board Never Boring inches towards the finishing line of his HeroQuest Restoration Project. In this video he shows a very simple painting guide for getting the HeroQuest core game and Kellar's Keep expansion orcs to a decent tabletop standard without a lot of effort and with relatively few paints. You could also adopt some of these ideas for painting orks or orruks too.

The orc paint set from GW worked really well on these Orcs. The wash was really fantastic. Just a fantastic game. Nice job. I've gone back many times just to add little details, but nothing earth shattering.

Always happy to see one of your Heroquest videos. :-D Im hopeful for gameplay videos like you’ve done with Space Crusade. FYI, another Cursed City article is in the next WD (467). Surprising, I know! Squint at the Community article on the issue and you’ll see it in the contents jpg. Something about the CC environs. Not sure if they’ll introduce rules (please, please) or if it’s more of the same from previous issues. Edit: gotta agree on Balthasar gold. It rocks.

Thanks for watching . Yeah I saw there was an article on building the city. I read all the GW community posts and follow all their socials so I don’t normally miss that sort of thing but thanks for thinking to let me know.

I’m a huge Hero Quest fan. Grew up playing the game and picked up a copy of the game a few years back to show my kids. That said I formally challenge you to a Hero Quest miniature paintageddon. Best orc wins.

I suspect you would win as I'm not a good enough painter. My channel is all about tabletop quality paint jobs - getting things painted quickly and easily for gaming.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Sad that you’ve declined my challenge. Even so, Great job on the video and Hero Quest series!

Lovely work! I think the Orcs are my favourite minis from HeroQuest. They've got so much old school character. I'm trying to work out my colour scheme for my HQ baddies before I get started. I'm thinking about going for a dark, slightly muted pallet that emulates the box art as closely as possible. Hopefully I can do them justice. Just need to finish Cursed City first.

Are you thinking of doing a similar painting series for the new Heroquest?
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring 3 жыл бұрын
I didn't back HeroQuest. If they ever do decide to take it to retail, then I will buy it and do a painting series for it. The series I have done so far is pretty easy to port across to the new edition anyway.

Definitely will show it all finished. I have a video for the goblins, and a video for fixing up the box, and then it's all done.

So, I am painting the new HeroQuest Orcs at the moment, and I am considering Using Ironbreaker for the armor, leadbelcher for the weapons, and then doing a light drybrush using warlock bronze to hint at some rusting. I was just wondering what your input on that would be, and what paints you would recommend.
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring

I always use a wash on metals, and then (depending on the level of the paint job) layer up or drybrush over that. Often the wash is Nuln Oil, just to get some shading on the metals. I sometimes use Agrax or even Seraphim Sepia to make the swords look old. Leadbelcher is my go-to for most silver metallics. I think it's a really good option for a lot of things.

I was foolish and forgot to write down how I painted my orcs. Still should be easy to figure out I don't have that many greens. Also how do you film your painting work? I'm going to be doing some videos soon and trying to figure out the best way to film.

I have my paint station with a powerful wide adjustable strip light. Camera attached to an adjustable stand. Audio is recorded at a later date on a unidirectional mic setup, and then overlaid in the final composite.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I'm not tech savy enough to record sound and overlay. Most of my unboxings are done in usually one sitting with rare occasions of having to make a movie out of multiple recordings.
