Love this tutorial! Not following it fully, but the Corvus Black and Incubi Darkness are so superb instead of abbadon black and then straight highlight with some light grey. Applied this for my Dark Angels Legion Imperialis models, but just adding a light Celestra Grey drybrush highlight after the Corvus Black and then paint a 50/50 water+paint mix with Incubi Darkness over the whole model and getting some nice highlights straight up and adding in celestra grey where ever to get a stronger highlights. With these smaller models, I don't use oils, just a nice 50/50 mix of water and nuln oil instead. Thx for this tutorial, giving the Dark Angels a more interesting greenish tint that also forebolds their doom. ;) This is so perfect! Thx!

Thx for a nice guide, gave me some ideas for my current 30K Dark Angels project. First time working with oil washes for me, so your vid gave some good pointers.

Thanks, oils are so easy, the key things are 1 a gloss coat protects the base layer and blue stains really badly

Loving the HH tutorials. I know you’re probably mega busy with all the Horus heresy stuff and everything you’ve got going on but I’d love to see a breakdown of what’s left to come over the final 26 issues of imperium magazine and how the sprues are likely to be split

I like this technique as I want a scheme I could replicate easily and look consistent across all units as I add more over time. The only thing stopping me using it is the idea of drybrushing as it usually comes out chalky or too textured. Did you find this to be a problem?
@FauxHammer2 жыл бұрын
I tend to just put the texture down to grim-darkyness. it's not a problem, it's a if you think of it as a style. if you don't like it. don't do it.
@froghugger41 Жыл бұрын
If you have a damp brush it's less chalky

Cool guide! The odd 3D printed bit is fine on models imo. GW can't expect (well, they can, I guess) people to pay FW prices for only one or two bits.
@FauxHammer2 жыл бұрын
Especially since those parts are being released to retail with 3D print layer lines on them

02:37 - "So red is directly complementary on the colour wheel to blue" I don't know what colour wheel you're using... but that's not true in either RBY/CMY or RGB. Fortunately, it is complementary in CMY to Cyan, and Incubi Darkness is a bit more in that family than it is in the pure blue range. I'd be careful with enamel varnish under an oil wash too. You don't want the spirits in the oil wash reactivating the varnish (unless you want that to happen deliberately, which is a thing scale modellers sometimes do). Acrylic or lacquer varnish is actually better in this case

Yeah I don’t know what I was thinking here, I should have just left it as cool tone opposite to warm tones, but glad it works. Yeah agreed need to make sure enamels are fully cured before introducing more spirits

@@FauxHammer Honestly, the colour wheel is more guideline than actual rules.

Awesome tutorial, I think I'm definitely gonna do an army of 1st legion at some point.I think if I'm not mistaken Agrax/Nuln mix is what the eavy' metal team use, calling it Marine Juice? Though that might be Agrax/Sepia mix..

3d printing is morally correct. Copyright dose not apply to things you make solely for yourself. If building a replica of a ford is not stealing, then neither is 3d printing.

Why is it that no one will paint Mk VI armour from Horus Heresy Dark Angels instead of the other crap that you use, not everyone has the money to buy that other shit. You lot give the new players the shits by expecting everyone to have the money or place to get that crap.

Well, I guess it's because i paint the way I paint. I understand this is not the right video for you, but that's ok right? what if everyone only did Beginner friendly videos? Games Workshop themselves have a video for beginners? kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpW1amefa7h4rck&ab_channel=Warhammer What's wrong with that video? Do you want better Quality than that and get models painted to a quality more like what I've shown? In that case, the only way I know how to do it is this way...
