Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included kzbin.infoUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

Hi Anika, superb video and so helpful! just one question, you mentioned that after the first coat of latex primer you can use other versions of primer e.g. water base? Have you tried it? In our paint shop the lady was not sure if the water based colour/primer is going to hold on to the first coat of latex primer. Is it safer to use the latex based paint after the latex primer or can we go ahead even with water based paint? thank you

Great job. Thanks for sharing. Did you in the end use two coatings of the shellac based primer, or one? You were talking about one, but it seemed to me that the second coating was similar to the first. Can you put water-based paint on a shellac based primer? I didn't know that.

I found your video tutorial and excellent step by step process for painting IKEA furniture! Thank you! I am planning out painting my not-sold-at-ikea-anymore dining room table bench. Should I disassemble before prepping/painting? Also since my family will be actively using it for sitting at the table, I'm assuming it would need a sturdy top coat...maybe two. What would you recommend? Thank you!

Hi! Love your work! I’m looking to convert old billy bookcases to use outdoors. I used it for a party and in one day the laminate peeled off in some areas. What wood and sealer do you recommend using to basically cover the melamine under the laminate (removing the laminate)😬
@KagomeMorino2 жыл бұрын
The billy bookcases are not actually wood there more like wood shavings and glue made into panels. That type of material should really never be near moisture because it soaks it up and falls apart.

I would like to try this on a white Billy bookcase but question how if the paint will hold up. I want this to be functional bookcase with actual books sliding in and out daily. Would this method work? Two professional painters can't to give me a quote but as soon as they saw the texture and surface of the Billy (laminate, melamine, not real wood) they said it cannot be painted. You did a great job.

With the primer that you used, does the paint / primer scratch off the shelf easily? I once painted an Ikea table using only paint and it scratches off very quickly. I'm just wondering when done properly the way you did it would the paint slush primer scratch easily?

Nope. It doesn’t. It needs to cure completely - about a week or so. I actually painted this last September and it is still as good as it was. You can easily run a fingernail across with no scratches
