I am an experienced watercolorist and I could watch this video repeatedly. Thank you.

I am very new to watercolor painting and am a bit bemused that my tutor has not discussed this with us. He says that you can't have too much water, when you have shown quite clearly that you can. I was googling this dilemma and is how I found your videos. Thank you so much for these. I have learned so much from you and really appreciate how you explain things so clearly. I just have to find time to practice! :)

I have enjoyed all your lessons. Please keep them coming. I am recovering from spinal core surgery so I get to see your videos on the tv. Can't wait to start painting. I am a beginner. Thanks, Wanda ;)

Thanks Angela, I always need reminding on wetness - it's easy to get into trouble part way through a painting and make unfixable mistakes when the paper is at a certain stage of wetness!

Omg this is so helpful, I've watched other videos on transparency, but you explain this the best and everything is clear and useful! Thank you!!!

I think this video, specifically, convinced me of the importance of good paper! It's so hard when you want to do all your beginner goofing around and screwing up on the junky stuff. But I can see, there's just no way you're actually learning your medium accurately on the junky paper. Water and paint do not play like that on the paper I use now! ;) Thank you so much for your amazing tutorials! I will be taking your skillshare class sometime in the near future; I really love how you teach the building blocks for beginners.

Excellent explanations. I have been pull g my hair out looking for a simple, to the point, buddy explanation on this but to no avail...until YOU. Also, you were only the 2nd person who explained that you needed to "activate" the pans of paint to get them to behave properly...and I have looked over dozens of "Beginners" sites. You would think it would be the first thing folks would mention.. go figure, 🙄. Thank you for helping me. You bet I subscribed!!💐

Thank you so much for this Angela. I particularly find seeing the amount of water on the different samples helpful. Sometimes the difference seems so small between what is manageable and what isn’t!

You are GREAT with explanations for beginners. Finally, someone HELPED me!! 1st--I've been wetting paper and THEN adding paint (& more water, of course).. 2nd--I was adding paint when the paper was too dry.. THANK YOU!

This was super helpful, thanks so much :) My professor told me my watercolor approaches were sloppy, and it was because of the streaks. Oddly enough, my classmate told me to wet the paper first, and as you've said, I couldn't control it as much. I'll definitely try dampening the brush more this time.

Angela......Thank you so much. I really enjoy your loose style and I would love to take your classes on line and in order. I am someone who has played around with watercolor. Got it all wrong and way, way too tight. So, I need to start from the beginning with technique, color mixing and loosening up. Where do I begin? I'm in the PNW too, but, in the states and cannot get to you to take live classes. I imagine that would be a fabulous opportunity.

This is very helpful, thanks. Can you talk about how to get past the fear of the blank white page?
@kineticpsi10 жыл бұрын
I met a girl in an online forum that would paint the page with a light wash of a light grey. That way the page had something on it but not enough to limit your next steps. I have used a similar technique with acrylic paint on some pages where watercolor won't be used. You have to be willing to make mistakes and know that if one does happen you can learn from it and get better.

I work with resins and alcohol ink. The colors move like when you showed the paper being wet beforehand. Do you have any advice on how to gain back some control in that case. With resin, once it's dry I can't paint with it.

@aksanunadiya81149 жыл бұрын
I want to ask since i'm new to watercolor. I dont know why but my painting tend to dry fast. is it because of the watercolor or the paper? it makes me difficult to apply wet on wet technique right because of it and correcting it.
@aksanunadiya81148 жыл бұрын
Do you have recommendation of what brand of watercolor paper which is good but not so expensive? Is Cotman watercolor paper good?

@elainekangmercado15059 жыл бұрын
Not really, there's a technique where you paint on a wet paper. It depends on what outcome you want. For me, I find it hard to control painting 'wet on wet'
