I just did mine for my '01 TJ - I was recommended the Krylon Fusion Satin Black paint and man did it deliver - They look factory. I scrubbed them with Simple Green degreaser with a ScotchBrite pad to get the scale off, let them dry thoroughly and put on 3 light/1 heavy coat of paint. Plastic just sucked in the paint - For Reference: 1 12oz can did Rear and Front bumper flares, my stock Step-Side and Rail flare for one side.

Planning on doing mine on my '13 JK. Did you just tape off the reflectors on your front flairs?
@tumbleweedking56687 жыл бұрын
Painted mine inside and used adhesion promoter for primer, placed a fan on them to speed up drying time. 20 minutes between coats could be cut to 10 on hot day and the fan.

Very nice dude. I'm gonna do bed liner on my 2010 jk fenders. I took care of em for years but they finally started fading this year. I was going to replace them with steel bumpers but I don't want to spend money on the car because I got a ton of other projects in my life and fenders aren't really a priority. But this is a good diy project I can do over a weekend.

I'm doing this and my SUPER faded hardtop on my TJ soon, this helps...though not sure which bedliner paint to use now. I live where the sun is brutal, but it's in the garage when not being driven. Also, what would you use for headliner on a hardtop to lower some of the road noise during highway travel? Keep up the videos!
@937wigger8 жыл бұрын
with a TJ, road noise even when i had a hard top wasn't much different than with the soft top man.

+TheRed Shepherd yeah, the 6.0 powerstroke was sold a little while back, bought a 89 f250 to replace it as a gas alternative, rebuilt the 460 in it and got bored with it in a hurry, so i sold it to a buddy, drove to michigan to get the dodge and then picked up the jeep. My automobile life is always changing with certain projects :)

hey brother, looks great! thinking of doing the same to my fenders this week. How is it holding up now? any fading,chipping,cracking,peeling over the last year?

@arturotorres64374 жыл бұрын
plasti-dip or bedliner? Which do you recommend?
@937wigger4 жыл бұрын
Arturo Torres bedliner. Plasti dip is garbage in my opinion, and fades. These things are still looking great.
@pturner154 жыл бұрын
how has it held up since? Peeling? Fading?
@937wigger4 жыл бұрын
PV Turner it had held up great! I have since cut the fenders up to make clearance for 35s, but after a few years they were perfect

Hey mate, a couple of questions: 1. Did you use acrylic primer or enamel primer? 2. I've seen online people say to do it in the sun so you get a good black. Is this important? Thanks loads. The Last
@937wigger7 жыл бұрын
The Last well to answer your questions, 1-I didn't really idea primer, just used flat black camo paint you can find just about anywhere :) 2-I painted them in the sun, but that's just because it was sunny out haha. I would've done it in cloudy weather too. Hope this helps!! :)

Great video! Quick question, did you do the inside of the flares to? Thanks from Australia 👍
@937wigger7 жыл бұрын
The Last I didn't do the inside, didn't feel the need since the rocks and mud usually cake up in there ;)
@thelast55737 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, thanks for the quick response, I didn't even think about that. Also checked out some of your gun videos. You guys are so lucky in the states. We have to jump throughout hoops to get any firearms here. The law prefers to protect criminals here rather than its normal citizens. Don't ever give up your right to bare arms brother! All the best. TL
@937wigger7 жыл бұрын
The Last believe it or not I did a paper In College about how awful the gun laws are in Australia. What they put people through to own basic stuff, being forced to compete in shooting competitions several times a year to own certain firearms(so I read), it is crazy. Hopefully one day the government there will get their heads out of their ass and realize gun control doesn't work. Never has, never will! Anywho, all the best to ya!
