Averland sunset is quite different. It’s much darker. If that is all you have then try a half the amount of averland. Over all your still going to get a nice base colour. Just try it out and experiment. As long as YOU like it, that’s all that matters 😁

Great tutorial. Your skin mix and dry brushing with UBone was turly inspiring. A little tip for other viewers: if you're more into Vallejo paints, I've achieved similar skin colour with their Lime Green, desaturated with justa a touch of their Black.Three drops of green and just a brush tip of black

@TableTopReadyYoutube
@TableTopReadyYoutube Жыл бұрын
Your welcome. Just know that if you are aiming for different tones in something, it’s going to Come from washes and highlights. Just painting different patches of colour doesn’t really work. Especially for something organic. Unless it’s fur or for pattern. Try out some of the different washes over different greens and you’ll never run out of different ways to paint Ork skin 😁

As always love these videos. I’ve been using a lot of your tips and have discovered one of my new favorite paints that you have used, stormvermin fur! I’m using it for the cloth color for my Deathskulls and I love it. Did you change your ork skin recipe? Thought it used to be with flash gitz yellow? Also I’d recommend trying plaid witch flesh for the white with Deathskulls, as I find it easier to paint with, and is got that slight “dirty white” that looks more orky. Anyway Michael, always like seeing you back on the orks!

With dry brushing. Less is better. Get as much of the paint off as you can until it’s not coming off onto the paper towel anymore. If your doing a small amount of miniatures then just using the base colours is fine. I would clean the plastic with warm soapy water first though. If your doing a whole army that your going to play games with then i would invest in some primer. It doesn’t need to be citadel 🤷🏼‍♂️ as long as it’s acrylic based. Plenty of options out there. If your in the uk I know a lot of people use a primer from Halfords for example

I'm confused is it averland sunset you use or flash gitz ? I've followed your previous ork painting guide and it says flash gitz yellow. I've had good results with that but this one you say averland sunset. Have you changed your recipe and if so was there a reason? Very interested

this tutorial mainly focused on getting the Orks painted quickly so I recommend at the start to use only Base paints and they go down easier. Averland sunset is the yellow base colour

@@TableTopReadyKZbin I may have to try some averland sunset instead of flash gitz in a mix and see how it differs. I'll be honest tour original video has given me some brilliant results with the original orc skin mix

I'm glad to hear it. The biggest hope for me and my videos is to inspire and give people ideas how they approach painting miniatures. I would recommend just layering up with flash gitz rather than a mix. The mix won't cover very well or you could paint the Orks in the quick method and then paint the armour like I did in the Clans tutorial. mix and match

@@TableTopReadyKZbin your videos have definatly inspired me. I have come back to the hobby of painting miniatures after a 18year hiatus. Your content aswell as some other creators (aswell as the obvious leaps and bounds in the industry) has given me a new lease of life in how I approach a project.

This seemingly current trend of equating efficiency with "cheating" is odd to me. Any technique or tool that allows someone to achieve a comparably high-quality result with less effort is efficient, not a cheat. It's like saying driving my car to work rather than a horse and buggy is cheating. I hope people get rid of this misconception that efficiency means cheating.

I agree. There’s some very outdated ideas about painting miniatures. It’s just a different way of painting. I essentially use all the same techniques, it’s just a mind set people have and I’m trying to change that with every tutorial I make. A more efficient way of painting is the right way to think about it 👍🏻

@@TableTopReadyKZbin That’s awesome. I also paint and I totally support what you’re trying to do. If you want to see my minis or discuss I’m on Tableflip Foundry in Discord. I’m also on a few Facebook groups but just to post pictures. I’ll go to your KZbin page when I get home from work and send you my email address. Don’t want to post it here to avoid luddites with torches and pitchforks at my door. :)
