How to Paint Rainy Misty Forest | Easy Forest Water Coloring Painting Tutorial For Beginners

Hello everyone! It's Aishah here, in this landscape watercolor painting tutorial for beginners I will show you how to paint a rainy misty forest step by step. Watercolor misty forest can be a bit intimidating to try, especially when you see a final result. But in this tutorial, I broke the steps down in really easy steps.
Overall there are three main steps; The gradient in the background. Painting the trees in different colors, and as you paint blending them down using a clean damp brush.
All of my materials are from Winsor & Newton except for Lamp Black which is from holbein, and the big flat brush.
Paper: Winsor & Newton 100% Cotton Cold Pressed Paper
Cobalt Turquoise, Phthalo Turquoise
Round brush size 12
Rigger brush size 2
Large flat brush
White Gouache - Royal Langnickel

It is a beautiful painting....amazing....I love misty forests but I always struggle to achieve the misty effect while coloring....you have achieved it so easly.

I love the landscape but the rain looks very one dimensional. You need to do with the rain streaks what you do with the trees: Distant ones need to be higher up the canvas, faint and small, close ones need to be lower on the canvas, bolder and larger. Blend between the two for the mid-ground. Hope that helps! 🙂

AhmadArt perhaps they sunset colors could be purple, Orange, yellow, and black? I believe those will be good combos. Also, maybe a black silhouette of the skyline? Perhaps buildings and maybe the bottom of the canvas can be like a ripple effect of water in which it shows the reflection of the buildings? I genuinely hope I’m not making it complicated or too difficult ☺️☺️

Does the paper have a texture? All the paper I have so far is in a Strathmore watercolor pad and has more texture than I like. Is the large flat brush a watercolor brush?
