How to paint Roses & Rosebuds on Stemless Wine Glasses

Donna of Pequest Valley Art gives a step-by-step demonstration on painting roses on stemless wine glasses using the one stroke method. Materials used are FolkArt Multi-surface acrylic paints in the colors Thicket Green, Citrus Green, Titanium White & Magenta, 2 stemless wine glasses purchased from Dollar Tree, a #2 long brush, #5 flat brush and a 3/4" flat brush (designed for glass painting), a paper plate for a palette, a towel for drying brushes & water for rinsing brushes. Feel free to change up these colors or materials to your liking!

Thanks so much for your kind words & for subscribing! The FolkArt Multi-surface & enamel paints have the following directions on the label: Allow painted item to dry for 24 hours to be sure all layers of paint have dried. Place project in a cool oven, as the glass must heat gradually with the oven to avoid breakage; do not place glass in a hot oven. Set oven temperature to 350ºF. Once temperature has reached 350ºF, allow the project to bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, turn the oven off and let glass cool down completely before removing from the oven. Do not use for 72 hours.

What brand of paint are you using? FolkArt Multi-surface acrylics are what I use. They also make enamel paint, specifically for glass painting.

Thanks so much! The FolkArt Multi-surface acrylics that I use have a built in sealer. I bake the glasses following the instructions on the label. I also recommend hand washing the glasses to customers, even though they're supposedly dishwasher safe (top shelf only). 🙂

To answer your question, I'm not exactly sure. I have glasses I painted 5 years ago that still look like new, but we don't use them daily. The FolkArt Multi-surface acrylic paint that I use has a built-in sealer, plus I cure it by baking the glasses in the oven. Eventhough they are supposedly dishwasher safe (top shelf only), I always recommend "if handmade, handwash!" Thanks for your question! Happy holidays! 😊
