@youtubechannel123714 жыл бұрын
@@savannah5731 Sorry for the late reply! I have been jumping between Sketchbook, Adobe Fresco and Procreate. They each seem to have their own pros/cons. Sketchbook for product sketches, Fresco for realistic paint and vector work. Procreate for everything else. I think I prefer Procreate the most; it feels most intuitive with the iPad, but it doesn't have some disappointing limitations like lack of vector and artboard boundary restrictions ✌️

I really appreciate that you included all sorts of different skin colors and even took the time to explain the difference between darker and lighter skin tones! It's a refreshing change of pace from things like "How to paint hair!" and it's only straight/slightly wavy hair, etc

I just watched a KZbin video where they said just extract a color pallette from a photo, but you went hella in depth on this going scientific with it. You even broke a misconception I had about cool shadows/warm light that was hindering my ability to select the right colors. Thank you so much! I feel a lot more comfortable selecting colors and being creative with them instead of feeling restricted.

I have heard of sub-surface scattering and refracted light before, but it made my head hurt when I saw explanations of it and why they were important for artists. With this video, I was able to understand those factors a lot more clearly, and how to use them in the future when I add color to my digital and painted works. I even learned a lot of new things, like specularity. I’m really glad I came across this video! Good job and thank you, Lucas!

As a Blender modeler, I very much approve of this video and the explanation of subsurface. The material that best represents subsurface scattering is probably wax, hence why places like Madam Tussaud's uses wax for their celebrities

But I would have never broken away my fear to paint in color and would have never got the idea unless I saw this video. Thank you again!

the theory of using cool shadows is not based on comparing warm vs cool but because thge flesh is naturally warm and the skin without natural light becomes dull which means you mix a complimentary which is usually a cool color. Painters exagerate the cool color to interact with a warm color which enhances it. It is a suggestion, yet it's a suggestion that makes alot of sense. It will also stop your portraits from looking monochromatic.

What about hue of the light, med, and dark colors? I know shadows move toward red and also take on the amnuant light hue, but when comparing the 3 values, I belive I read you alter the hue a bit too. Like you don't want your light color and med color the same, just more saturated and darker. Would you say the med color gets warmer than light color?
