I get the feeling you research the hell out of things before engaging in them. You've got a lot of knowledge on display here, and you clearly took the time to learn about your tools and materials before jumping in for the kinesthetic part of the learning experience. Never thought about the 1:1 flow enhancer to paint to let capillary action do the heavy lifting, but now I'm going to have to try that!

I tried to prime a clone with GW white scar from a spray can and it didn’t seem to be sticking very well. In some it stuck but in others it was very runny. I’m not sure if I didn’t shake the can enough or if the temperature outside had anything to do with it.
@TotallyNotAMimic Жыл бұрын
Make sure its shaken really well. Also the humidity of your area can have an affect on it. Cool dry places get the bet results.
@gentlesol80562 жыл бұрын
Hey there, first of all, great Video, but i have a question! If you dont mind. Im new to airbrush, so i dont seam to get such a clean surface with my primer than you do, could it be that my Needle is too small? I use 0.2mm so far. I would like to Prime my Clone, then do the rest. Also, any tipps how i can redo misstakes with the brush ? Paint over it with white or whipe it off befor it dries? IDK ^^ Help would be amazing
@TotallyNotAMimic2 жыл бұрын
Hey! So sorry for such a late reply. You’ve probably already found the answer to your question by now but I thought I would respond anyway. Your needle size should be fine you just need to find the right balance in thinning your primer to go through the airbrush. Too little and you get spidering, too much and you get very transparent layers and pooling in the recesses. I use Vallejo Primer mixed with Flow Aid. Experiment with the ratio to find which is best for your airbrush. I hope this helps.

Do you have experience in using a vallejo surface primer from a spray can instead of doing it with a airbrush? I do not own a proper airbrush and just wonder whether the difference would justify buying one. Personally, I would tend to use the spray can but am a little afraid it turns too dark.
@TotallyNotAMimic3 жыл бұрын
I have used a spray can a couple times and you can certainly get a very smooth finish with a spray can. You do however have to take into consideration the temperature and humidity when using the spray can. If its too hot or cold the spray may not come out smoothly and you'll get a dusting effect. Short sprays in a sweeping side to side motion with the can will help get a smooth finish.

@Harley Center Ah! That makes more sense! I don't wet the brush each time because you just want the brush to be damp not totally wet. So just keep an eye on it as you use it to keep it from getting too wet or too dry. And thank you! :)

@@TotallyNotAMimic I think it looks fine personally. As for what kind of blue depends if you wanna go more for a movie look or the 2008 CG series look, the former you could achieve by making the blue you used more faded, as for the latter, I'd say a royal blue
