I have just completed a similar project on a Ford Focus textured parts .. I scuffed everything with a maroon scotchbrite pad and scrubbed it well. Next was adhesion promoter followed by three coats epoxy primer filler. Sanded with 180 and then 400.. Painted with two coats of two pack 4 to 1 JET black gloss. Looks fantastic

You think I would be able to do this process with all the fenders and trim on a Honda element? Been dying to paint my panels and fenders but don’t want the texture popping thru
@JustinsCustoms769 ай бұрын
Absolutely, this will work with any textured plastic pieces, you can also spray them with primer surfacer after sanding and sand them smooth the next day with 320 & 600 grit again before spraying your sealer, paint, and clear just to be certain it’s nice and smooth, but you can do this process that I did here to skip the primer surfacer, hope this helps!

did you paint a clear after the coats of black ?

Any issues with the paint sticking on or peeling? Since it was done on texture plastic. Want to paint the texture plastic to match my vehicle. But the bodyshop said it can't be done.
@JustinsCustoms766 ай бұрын
@@hectorruiz1291 no issues at all either painting textured plastic, body shops won’t do jobs like that mainly because they only do collision and insurance claim jobs, you’d have to find a small business or local paint guy to do stuff like this unfortunately, as long as it’s done right you won’t have any peeling!

How much would you charge to do flip up mirrors?

All that nice work and covered with a cheap bed cover 😆
@SOUTHERN_DIESELS4 ай бұрын
So do you mix the reducer and paint together then do 3 to 4 coats of it?
@JustinsCustoms763 ай бұрын
@@SOUTHERN_DIESELS correct the paint gets mixed 1:1 with the reducer then spray 3-4 coats

Hey I painted and cleared over plastic but can still feel it rough can I wet sand it and just redo it.? Or do I have to sand everything off again?
@JustinsCustoms76Ай бұрын
If you wet sand it, it will go beyond the paint down to the rough plastic, the best way would be to sand it down again, prime it, then sand the primer and re paint. Sometimes other textured plastic pieces are more rough and straight painting won't give you that smooth look, but priming then sanding it definitely will. Hope this helps!

@ thanks bro yeah this plastic is pretty rough oh well redo again thanks 🙏🏽

Hey man just subbed to your channel! How much paint would you recommend for all the black pastic trim pieces and mirrors on a 2019 f250? For doing colormatching.
@JustinsCustoms766 ай бұрын
@@og_muddi5587 thanks for the sub!! It all depends on the color, if you have white paint going over white sealer it covers very fast with it already being white, same with black or gray, but typically a quart or so would work, I mix all my paint 1:1 so it equals out to be 2 sprayable quarts

I've never used adhesion promoter on plastic. The one time I did. The paint bubbled up heavily. Started over without it, and it came out perfect.
@CrackSparrow362 ай бұрын
You didn’t wait for the adhesion promoter dry enough
@CrackSparrow362 ай бұрын
The paint will flake off if it’s raw plastic
@JustinsCustoms762 ай бұрын
@@CrackSparrow36 I always spray it right before spraying my sealer, it dries quick and I’ve never had an issue with paint flaking off, been doing it this way for years
