Welcome to the first of hopefully many Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game tutorials! This game is how I got my start into this hobby so it really means a lot to me! I got the new Battle of Osgiliath box from ‪@officialwarhammer‬ so I'm starting with a super quick and easy terrain tutorial! I recreated the off white stone of the town of Osgiliath pretty quickly, which I feel could also be used for Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40k terrain too! I really enjoy the practicality of your approach. Not everyone is a d..n artist and has 48 hours in a day ;). What I think you could try is show some options for stuff like this here. Paint 3 pieces of scenery with slightly different color schemes to show different type of stone used etc etc. Not everyone can imagine/design what mix of the paints to use and would gladly go by tutorials. That's a great idea! I usually just go for a tutorial of the box art as I assume that's what most people will be aiming to paint like but I do like that idea a lot! Will try work out something like that in the future! Appreciate the kind comment, and yes the less time painting and the more time we get playing is always better!

Great video! I wont lie, I was starting to wonder starting with the more tan color like you did, but it came together very nicely! It adds more warmth than the cold greys I used on my old ruins. I will be using this method for the new ruins! MESBG is my favorite game of GWs and I am trying to get more people to play.

I love the look of the LOTR movies. It's this wonderful fantasy world that is filled with splendor, but one that looks like it's been lived in. The gleaming white cities of Minas Tirith and Osgiliath are beautiful, but also worn down and war torn. It's something a lot of fantasy and sci-fi misses. They create beautiful places, but they don't look like they've been used. GW did a great job bringing that worn in beauty vibe to these sets. Also, those dry brushes work really well for these sets. Terrain shouldn't be something that you put a ton of time and effort into, they're the backdrop for your miniatures and your miniatures should be the vocal point. (Unless you're specifically wanting to show off the terrain.) So keeping it simple and effective is definitely the way to go here.

One thing I would add is that you could dry brush the wood with some beige or grey as a final step. There's just no way the wood is going to look as pristine as it does here if all the walls are as ruined as they are :D

Great video. I went for a slightly different approach with mine. Black prime then overbrush with Celestra Grey finishing off with a drybrush of Ultuan Grey. Similar result.

Looks great! I tried this and it turned out great. Only difference is I used Zandri Dust, Wraithbone and then PWF. I’ve got a touch darker result than you, I think…but I’m still really happy with how it turned out!

Ye you could. Zandri dust spray just has such a limited use. It’s hard to ask people to buy it for just these buildings.

Hi. Great job. I am struggling to obtain such good results. I use desert yellow from army painter for the basecoat and I don't manage to obtain the same coverage as you. Need 4 or 5 coats. And not as smooth. The brush lines are too visible. Would you have any advice ?

I realise that you were trying to add...er....contrast with your contrast paint for the wood but shouldn't old wood be a grey colour rather than brown?

Possibly. Probably. But the box art also has brown so I just went with that! You can add a grey drybrush after to the wood if you wanted an older effect too

I cannot see why you used model paints, when the likes of B&Q sell Tester paints that are also acrylic based and bigger open bottles and cost a fraction of what GW is asking for them. It is what I use all the time, except for metallic areas and wooden areas if there are any.

I know there are loads of tips and tricks like that but I prefer sticking to miniature paints and tools to use on them. Just makes things easier.

I'd certainly go the route of tester paints or craft paints in similar hues but for mass appeal to the miniature community I can fully see why using branded paints in the video makes sense.

@@MediocreHobbies pretty sure those little edge pieces (including the corner piece) are supposed to have the flat side up, not down. Still looks good though
